Personal tips on Slot MaChiNes!?

So I just went to the casino for the first time tonight, and I learned a few things...
1.If you can, play dollar slots, the payout is better.
2. Play diagonal slots
3. Play slots with a 5x bar or whatever they're called.
4. Play a machine immediately after a person has put a lot of money into their machine and walked away.

Do you guys have any tips on slot machines you could hook up?

These may all be true, but remember, you're playing a game with a negative expected value. It's a game you can't beat long-term.

Your points:
1. Not sure, but usually payout percentages are higher as the amount increases.
2. Not sure why this would be true. If the logic was "it gives you more ways to win", the slot machine maker knows this and adjusts payouts and hit frequencies accordingly.
3. This, like #2, is already worked in to the machine. The casino knows about this and adjusts accordingly.
4. This is more of an urban legend than truth. Even if a certain payout is supposed to hit 1 time in 100 and it hasn't hit in the past 90 spins, it doesn't mean it has to/is more likely to hit in the next 10. Random events don't have memory. I believe that a slot machine algorithm has some timing component to it, but it's not nearly as pronounced as most people think.

I went to this one casino where they had some special lists by the cashier. I looked at them and it was the list of slots machines which had paid out the most for that week. I guess it was to entice players to go to those machines so maybe they would pay out big again. But I'm not sure if slots consistently pay out big all the time.

Don't stay at the same slot once you hit something good. Keep moving from slot to slot to maximize your winnings.
