make her laugh. break the ice and your in. girls are always gonna feel a little strange about a guy they dont know approaching them. but there is a time and place. if you are looking to maybe go on a date with said girl don't ask one out while she is shopping or maybe pumping gas, this will come off as rather creepy and she'll be searching for her keys and have her cell ready to dial 911.lol. try and meet them at a bar or a club...someplace where it would be expected. you have a much better chance that way too. also for some reason the louder the place is the better it will be for you to say hi to a girl....if she was shopping and by herself and you came up to her...awkward silence becomes very noticeable. but lets say your in a popular coffee shop or bakery where things are happening and noise is around its easier to start a convo and those gaps in between talking are filled with other sounds....maybe offer to pay for her coffee, instant ice breaker or you could ask her what you should order...i wouldn't suggest complimenting her as an icebreaker you get a shy girl and she gets embarrassed and your screwed so try and get an idea of if shes talkative or not then you can decide to lay the compliments on thick or not. hope this helps sweet heart.

I've always found that the best way to start up a conversation with a girl or anyone for that matter is to approach them with a question. Not too personal and not too cute. A question that requires more than a yes or no answer. She will probably feel more comfortable answering than ignoring you, especially if you ask with a smile. Once she answers you've each at least said something to each other and then I try to keep the ball rolling if I can.

I love it when random people say hi to me! to start a conv? i guess that depends on the situation....anything is fine AS LONG AS YOU DONT START OR EVEN USE A PICK UP LINE! those are usually turn offs for girls right away!
You could complement her hair or smile or something... or if you guys have a class or something together, you could ask her a question about homework, or an upcoming event...or ask for the time....
in my opinion the best way to start a conversation with someone youve never talked to before, is to complement something about them. so for example you could say: you have really pretty eyes, do you wear contacts? and then start talking about her! girls love to talk about themselves. good luck! :)

Ha thats a funny questions, Saying Hi would be a start but it depends where you are and whats going on. Would I like that, well I wouldnt really be thinking about that when someone asks that questions. Start with hi, if they respond, ask them how there day was, go from there you will know if there interested in making conversation if they talk back.

There's really no way in knowing until you give it a little time. Sure guys text girls as friends but he could be into more. Remember, relationships always last longer and are better if you become his best friend first! Good luck!

Hi is a good start.
Don't say anything corney, come up with something original and sincere. you can't go wrong.
Don't comment on looks because we hear line all the time and get sick of the same one's which come off rehearsed everytime.
Talk about the weather or something nutral then once some common ground is established then if your interested comment on more personal things such as looks.
Best of luck

If you approach it very cool and without desperation I will say hi back... A good way to start the conversation is to talk about something that is in the surroundings of where you are at the time.

Just say hi back and smile!
I don't know what a guy would have to say to me, because I never get that far. It normally starts with me falling or tripping ungracefully into his arms, (on accident, I swear!). And then I end up trying to recover and looking like an idiot.
Oh, woe is me!

I would say hi back. A guy could start a conversation by saying hello, my name is ... and I have been noticing you around. i would like to talk sometime , when would be a good time for you. Smile the whole time.
