You know, the guy who pickets funerals of gay people or military men. He has some kind of a church that preaches hate. I don't see any action by him that seem the least bit Christian. What do you think?

He's mentally ill. If you've ever seen his personal webpage it reads just like the rantings of a schizophrenic. He's beyond bigoted -he's utterly insane. Apparently he was heavily into quaaludes in the 60s and it has caught up with him.
His "church" is a church in name only. The only members of his "church" are his grown children and grandchildren. It's not a real church - it's a nutjob family. They call themselves a church but that's misleading and gives the impression that they represent some sort of movement or philosophy beyond themselves. They don't.

Fred Phelps is a fruitcake, and an unpatriotic, Unamerican, fascist pain in the a**. I defend his right to be a fruitcake (First Amendment, after all ... more's the pity), but I just wish he'd shut up and go away, and take his band of fruitcakes with him. He's lucky he hasn't been seriously assaulted yet; picketing the funerals of servicemen is just asking for a group of trained killers to start dancing on your head. I think he'd better be careful.

Fred Phelps nor his church behave like Christians nor do they follow the Bible as Christians should.
Though I am not the judge of men's hearts, from what I can see the Phelps family are clearly not Christian.

He thinks he is a christian, and so do the people in his church. Everyone else sees him as a bitter old man who likes to travel the country preaching hate. He thrives on causing problems.

Not only does Phelps protest funerals and gays,he also protests other Christian churches.That only proves to me that the he is a nut.

His group is NOT Christian as I wouldd find in the BIBLE. He has a cult of some sort. I think he has a mental shortcoming or two. Have a great evening.

In some ways yes... but mostly he's a cult leader. I'm sure there's some chance that he actually does believe his ranting and that he
1. Believes there's a god (and a messiah) and
2. Believes this god hates just about everyone
