Physically perfect beings that were mentally retarded?

They could not comprehend right and wrong, so disobedience (dont eat the fruit) was never wrong. Its not a matter of they should have listened to god, they just didnt understand that there was anything WRONG with NOT listening to god.

Along comes the serpent that tells them things.. Keep in mind, to adam and eve there is no such thing as a lie, so everything the serpent says MUST be fact.

So add it all up. You have 2 mentally retarded people (i say this because by todays standards, a 3 year old knows right from wrong where as adam and eve do not) + A immortal evil soul bent on corrupting them + a god that didnt adequately prepare them FOR the coming of satan. Either by telling them, KILL serpents you see, or putting something that would at least EAT the serpent in the garden + the tree of knowledge of good and evil, a thing so dangerous, that it shoulda been under angelic guard 24/7. Not just sitting in a pasture.

Verdict?

Free will? I have heard that thought before, but what freedom did they have?

They were told by the serpent these things. You have to understand that EVERY SINGLE THING that was said to them was TRUTH and FACT.

There is no ambiguity here. If adam and eve heard a thing, then such a thing was reality.

If god and the serpent said different things, both MUST have been equally true (and arguably the RIGHT thing to do or at the very least, not the wrong thing to do)

Yet and still, dont we have to hold god accountable for his part in the fall of man?

I see blame on adam and eve constantly, but no one ever says that god is also to blame.

If you put a loaded gun in a 3 year olds child hand's and say DO NOT SHOOT. When he hurts himself, do we blame the child (for being disobedient) or the parent?

Roy, i understand human nature.

What you do not understand is adam and eve PRE-FRUIT.

You say they made the wrong choice, but THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS WRONG.

why is that so hard for you to comprehend.

God didnt adequately prepare them for their existence of ignorance.

And of course one thing thats always bugged me greatly..

WHY IS THAT TREE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

He coulda stuck that tree on another planet and everything woulda been fine, but NOOOOO he has to put the ONE thing that can cause the fall of man RIGHT IN THEIR REACH.

And yet no one blames him still?

as for tobacco and alcohol. I am not retarded i understand the consequences of my actions.

THEY were not able to do as much.

Adam and eve were told do not eat or die.. then told that if they eat they would not die.

BOTH statements were 100% accurate to them as god didnt see fit to tell them about snakes.

Every three year old I've ever known would raid the cookie jar after they have told they can't have one, and then lie about it when they get caught while they are still chewing on the evidence.

You don't seem to understand human nature.

Tobacco and alcohol are statistically the 2 most dangerous substances on earth, why aren't they under armed guard 24/7.
They both have warning labels, but people ignor the warning, just like Adam and Eve ignored the warning God gave them.

God gave people freewill, and part of freewill is the right to make the wrong choice.

Keep in mind also that everything this serpent said was later proven to be true. And that the one that lied was God!

The serpent said that God knows when you eat of this you shall be as gods knowing good and evil. This was verified as true in Genesis 3:22 where God admits that very thing!

Also if they had not gained this knowledge they would never have been able to make any choice at all! To live forever and never to know what love is? This seems like pure torture to me!
What type of God would want to deny anyone the ability to think for themself? What is this God afraid of???

The beauty of the creation of man is that we have free will. Eve gave into temptation. The serpent planted the seed of doubt. And she rationalized what God had told her. Of course Eve wouldn't drop dead from taking a bite......only that she wouldn't be immortal. Which she soon found out.

What I find funny is that Eve was conned (so to speak) by a very skillfull serpant. All Adam did was say "Okay, hunny!" Retard. LOL

Verdict ! It was when they saw they were naked after waking up from after eating the fruit. They covered up their nakedness. Therefore Adam and Eve determined their own guiltiness "...so they sewed fig leaves together...for themselves" (Gen.3:7) Then they hid from God, later Adam said "...I was naked so I hid myself" (10). Adam explained to cover himself by blaming "The woman..."(12).
They may not have known Right from Wrong, yet they knew the difference between nudist-ism and nakedness. They hid from God not because of a wrongful act they did, rather because they were naked.
Now don't say the serpent ought to have been eaten. He received the raw deal by having to crawl around in the dirt and eat dust. Men and women should they want to discuss this matter any further with God have space ships to fly into the heavens and I doubt they will bring along any snakes to explain the action of his ancestor.

You answer your own question:

because by todays standards, a 3 year old knows right from wrong

Adam and Eve did not know the difference between good and evil until AFTER they ate the forbidden fruit.

They were given a choice they took the one God recommended they not take.( For taking the path would bring problems to them such as all the adversity we now know and he loves us and don't want any of us to hurt) After eating of the fruit of knowledge to know the difference between Good and evil they were no longer perfect. (as they were told not to eat of it) And were kicked out of the garden of Eden. In reality God wanted them to eat of the fruit so that his plan of us rising above plain animals would go into affect. However then it becomes necessary that he gives us a way to return to perfect. That was accomplished by Jesus Christ. He also knew that not all of his children would return to him because he gave us free choice as to who we follow. His word or the devil's, who says their is no God or its alright to sin God will not mind, thus leading Gods children from the truth.
Oh yes the answer to the question they didn't need to know the difference between good and evil as they were told by God before hand not to eat of the fruit.

They knew what God told them to do, just like a three year old that has no sense of morals or morality knows that their parents say "don't run out in the middle of the street or you'll get hit". And just because they didn't know right and wrong doesn't mean they couldn't fall into temptation.
Good question though, sorry there is no great answer to it.

Gee, its really nice that you are calling Adam and Eve retarded. Ok, God told them NOT to do it, they had all the other trees to eat from, but nooooo Eve let the snake talk her into eating the one fruit that was not available to her. And yes, there is something very wrong when you don't listen to God.

Not true. They DID understand that there was something wrong with not listening to God!

The bible states that God advised them of the consequences of their disobedience. "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

The serpent said to them "You shall not surely die."

Eating the fruit gave them the knowledge of good and evil - i.e. deciding what is the best thing for THEM, as opposed to simple obedience to God.

God did adequately prepare them - He said "don't eat the fruit"!

Adam and Eve listened to the serpent, in direct disobedience to God, and received the consequences for their choice. Just as we will receive the consequence of our disobedience to God unless we respond to God's free offer of salvation in Christ Jesus.

The whole point of the passage is this: are we going to obey God (who made us and knows what's best for us) or someone else?

Well i see your good pionts....but God told them (back then they could talk to God better that we can now) anyways God told then that they could stay in the garden oh eden if they obeyed His laws... which was only one at that time. They had the choice to live happily ever after if they did not eat the friut. The had free will.
The disobey....its very easy to understand.
