We have bones (raw hide) for my dog but he insists on chewing hangars instead. (the dry cleaning kind that have the cardboard bottom).

What can I do?????

Sorry... he is 8 months old (mini schnauzer) and seems to enjoy chewing on paper. (He rips it up whenever he can get to it). He will chew on the bones but he clearly prefers the cardboard.

the cardboard is probably much more fun for him to chew on - he gets to rip the paper and it probably gives him more satisfaction to do that. my dogs dont like rawhides at all. one of them has this paper fetish - he won't chew anything in the house, but if there's paper on the floor or paper towels or toilet paper available, he just cant control himself and he tears it all up. it's just a matter of preference. just make sure that the hangers are out of reach of your dog and try to find toys that he likes chewing.

Without knowing the condition of your dog's teeth, age, etc, I couldn't make an exact judgement. Go down to your local Wal-Mart and grab a real beef bone. I use the ones that still have some meat left on the joints, and appear to be basted/roasted. I have truly never seen a dog that wouldn't chew them. Is your dog eating the cardboard?

My dog loves Dingos. They have meat flavor in the middle. They are also very healthy for dogs. I'm pretty sure they come in different sizes because my dog is a toy poodle. Your dog is gonna probably gonna be bigger than mine, but they should work for you to. All those healthy bones like the green ones, im not sure what they are called sorry. Anyways, most dogs don't like those. Also, pig ears can be REALLY bad for your dog. So I wouldn't feed your dog them. Hope I helped a little!! Good luck!

I actually returned a 10 pack to the pet store! My dog wanted nothing to do with them AT ALL! I would just keep the hangers hung and away from your dog. Kong and Nylabone are good durable brands of chew toys.

Rawhide sticks and bones are the worst things for dogs, they dont digest and taste funny, many dogs dont like them. Get your dog a pigs ear or a real beef bone. I guarrantee it'l chew on that.

Try some other bones (lots of different textures) until you find a kind he DOES like, and keep the hangers hanging in the closet out of his reach.

ham bones are good too. Get a fresh one from the grocery store or the butcher. But with any bone, if your dog splinters them, take them away so they do not end up puncturing his intestines.

Give him what he likes. Have a dental check on your dog to make sure his teeth are not causing him trouble

he may prefer them over the bones, just pick them up and keep them out of his reach
