The New Testament was written by both people who knew Jesus in person(Matthew, John, Peter, James, Jude), people who knew people who knew Jesus(Mark, Luke), and Paul who had an encounter with Jesus after the ascencion when Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus. All of the writers of the New Testament were Jewish except for Luke who was a Greek. The New Testament was written in the 1st Century between about 49-70 AD..(There are good reasons to believe that Revelation was written before 70 AD.). Most of the New Testament was probably written in the 50's AD. The ealiest books I think are Galatians and James probably written about 49 AD. All of the New Testament books were written in the 1st Century within the lifetimes of people who knew Jesus and who witnessed Jesus after the resurrection(see 1 Corinthians 15). Liberal "scholars" give the New Testament books a little bit later dates, but they still admit that all of the New Testament was written in the 1st Century(within the lifetimes of eyewitnesses). www.equip.org

There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.
The purpose of writing the New Testament was to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

There are more than one authors of the New Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter and Jude. The author of the book of Hebrews is not known for certain. Some suggest that it was written by Apollos or Barnabas or Priscilla (Prisca) or Phillip. Others think it was written by Paul.
The purpose of the New Testament is as stated in 2 Timothy 3:16...All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I believe that Jesus existed, I believe all that the Bible tells us, it is God's Word.
God bless!

The New Testament was written after the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. It's writing was primarily the work of the Apostles and a few other disciples of Christ. The purpose of the New Testament was to give us a guide for living as a Christian and a worship guide for the New Testament Church. We are expected to read, study, and obey it's contents.
Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
HEAR - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
BELIEVE - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
REPENT - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
CONFESS CHRIST - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
BE BAPTIZED - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

I suspect a great many works were simply written to document what was going on at the time ( like journals ). The books that made it into the New Testament were selected because they best illustrated the beliefs of the ruling religious class at the time ( this was long after the authors of these works were dead ) Any religious writings which did not support their beliefs or were contradictory were disgarded.....and in some cases declared heresy; actively campaigned against by church fathers ( like the Gospels of Mary Magdalene )

The New Testament has several Authors, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John,Paul, etc.
I think that if it werent written by these authors, I would think someone in rome, like a catholic would fake it, and make it , like the koran. They are responsible for handing that out..If it was faked, it would have been written for control. but much of the new testament is prophesied, and full of future prophecy .....remnantofgod.org
Purpose was to stop the animal sacrifices, Jesus was the last blood sacrifice, and to teach us a better way to treat others, how to Love God, etc..

A bunch of old men who are now dead wrote the new testament. The better question you should have asked is who determines which books go into the new testament, and what happened to all the books that did not make it into the new testament.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Peter, James, and Jude, the book of Hebrews is disputed. The purpose was to record the events and sayings of the Lord Jesus in the case of the Gospels and to instruct the church in righteousness in the case of the letters and historical book of Acts. Also, each of the books has its own theme, such as the letters to Timothy were to teach what church leader should be and 1John so that we might know we have eternal life.

Well the people who say he didn't exist are dead wrong, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all wrote the 1st four...Paul the apostle wrote some too. the first four were depicting how Jesus was a King a servant, God's son and as a man.
