Hello. There are many different kinds of evergreens. Some, like the Magnolia, have leafs, but the more common evergreens, have neddels. There are many types of bushes, and many of those have leafs as well. The evergreen is used during the Winter months by birds for cover, because of their denseity. Evergreens usually grow best in acidic soil, but if you have a nice evergreen in your yard, and you know you have good soil, try pouring a quart of white viniger at root in the spring. Like I said they like the acidic soil, and rich soil is not always best. The neddles of the pine tree, can be used to make a tea, that isnt half bad, and the Indians would use some evergreens for medicines. Due the the fast growing nature of the evergreen, they are used in tree farming, and are used in buildings, and to make paper. You can find pine tree farms in southern Alabama. Ive seen them, and they are something. I hope this helps. Good luck. D

I did an internet search on "evergreen tree" and found hundreds of informative sites. It is true the first 4-5 were sales sites selling landscaping products, but if you keep going, you will find plenty of science and information sites.
The Wikipedia article near the top is pretty informative, and has links to lots of other good sites. So try again. You may not have looked far enough.
Good luck!

evergreen trees are called evergreen because they stay green even in the winter and fall. this is because of their leaves. those needle-like leaves save water so that they wont fall of during the winter months when water is scarce. hope i helped! =)
