my dog just has pups saturday am. She wasnt going outside either. I called the vet and he said its perfectly normal. He said after about 24 hours she will want to go, but just to pee and come right back to her babies. He said they dont want to leave them, which means she is being a very good mom. My girl did go out the following morning and peed a river, lol. The best of luck to you. Madison had 7 pups.

Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. She just does'nt want to leave her babies. She probably does'nt leave their side and runs right to them if they make one little noise. It's perfectly normal. She's being a very good Mommy. I raised six puppies a seventeen months ago and our mother dog was just like that. If you want her to go to the bathroom but still be close to her pup's, then you should by puppy pads. You lay them on the floor and they are made with some kind of scent that the dogs are attracted to. Our little puppies even went on it when they started to walk. Have fun, I know have fun and cute they are!!!

Sounds like good answers--- I'd only add, make sure she has plenty of food and water and be sure to leave the door open between her puppies and where she goes outside. She'll feel better if she can see and hear them from outside. Since it might be really cold where you are, and maybe you can't leave it open all the time, just leave it open while she is actually outside--- that way she won't be in anxiety for the puppies and she will take her time "taking care of business"
good luck with your big family!

No dont worry yet she may be dehidrated. Make sure she has plenty of water. If she doen't go within the next 16 hours then you may want to call a vet clinic for some advise. Sometimes a ***** wont leave her pups for quite a while give her some time.

She doesn't want to leave her puppies. When she is ready, she will go. That is perfectly normal. If you can't afford a vet, you probably should have re-thought letting your dog have puppies.

Personally, I pick my B1tch up and take her outside when the puppies are sleeping to go "potty". Once she knows that she has to go, she runs, gets it done quickly, then comes back to the pups. I never let her go for more than 8 hours without making her go. HOWEVER, I am there for the births, I help with delivery, I cut the umbilical cord, and I handle all of the puppies immediately. My b1tch trusts me completely.
Good luck with her! If you have any more question, feel free to e-mail me!

take one of the puppies and lead her outside if it is not to cold for the pup. because I breed yorkie's and they have hard births. I have to lead mom around so she will walk to try to get enough contractions to get the other one out. I do this by taking her pup and holding it down for her to follow.
But do make sure she is drinking plenty of water. she needs a lot to make milk

she might actually be licking up her own urine right off her body so that she doesn't have to leave her pups. sounds like a good mommy.
