the credit card collection attorney has put a judgement against our home. his fees are outrageous with a 7% interest. how long can a judgement last and can he double the fees and do it again. we have a homestead with our home. can he take away our home -we still owe our home.

He can NOT take away your home or force the sale of your home.

You can't SELL your home, however, until the judgment is satisfied.

The judgment lasts UNTIL YOU SETTLE IT through the COURTS or through the sale of the home.

Just remember this -- the longer you wait to deal with lawyers, the MORE it will cost you IN THE END. Remember, lawyers get paid an HOURLY rate, so you cut off your own hand by playing the waiting game.

must be for allot of money for them to waist there time witht this, you must have some equity in your home to prompt them to do this. I would seriously get you own attoneny with this. What would be a good option would be to treaten bancrupcy, if you do go bankrupt they get nothing, no leins on the home ect. look at a homeequity loan to settle with.
