I dated a girl about a year ago. Seems like we got along pretty well. She dumped me out of the blue, kind of abruptly.
Last week, she leaves me a number of messages on my answering machine, wanting to get together.
What the heck is going on?

some great answers here, i asked a female client i know well about this, and the 'she dumped you for another guy, then he dumped her was her take on it'
the 'fall back guy' thing is a very valid point, doesnt sit real well with me, even though i really liked the girl...

Easy. She dumped you for another guy, she dumped him or he dumped her and now she is back.
In the famous words of my grandmother, "you gain something by losing her"

Be careful. She sounds like she can't make up her mind what she wants. She might have dumped you because she was interested in someone else, and then when that didn't work out, she came back to you. Don't let yourself be reduced to the guy she's "settling for". At the very least, before you even THINK about getting together with her, have a LONG talk with her, and let her know that she owes you an explanation about EXACTLY why she dumped you. Hopefully, she'll be honest with you.

So, where is Randy A, C, D, etc. tonight? I guess that they left for the pub without us.
She sounds confused. I think that the other guys here are right; I think that she dumped you for another guy, and now he dumped her.You are her second choice. If you take her back, she might dump you again when she finds someone else.
Find another girl. There has got to be other girls out there.

How long did u both date? Perhaps something else was going on in her life at that point. She should have communicated that to u, but I guess u were a new person to her, and she didn't want to say it upfront incase it spoiled things. Maybe it was something really personal.
Inanycase, if you truly like her, and don't mind getting together with her, then give her another chance. Meet with her. Ask her if everything is okay. But don't be overly inquisitive, coz that might turn her off and she might get defensive. Let her express things whenever she is comfortable. I would say meet her, but be a lil cautious for now, as in take it slow.

You have answered you own question so it means deep down you know what happened
She found someone else and when that went wrong she came running back expecting you to take her back
She may have issues and can't be on her own
Some women have this need to be with someone like they can't survive alone, she obviously doesn't love you and will do the same to you when she thinks someone better has come along
Do yourself a favour and get someone better!!

she was probably gettin interest from sum1 else and she decided to drop u but kept u sweet
(which she has dunn cos its playin on ur mind)
got her fun and thrills from sum1 else, but then when she got wot she wanted from them shes tryin 2 *** bk 2 u.
ive got a few friends that will tell the bloke everything they want to hear, use them, get them to buy her things, then she all of a sudden goes cold on them. But what they dont know is that shes found another victim. when shes bored with him she'll *** bk to them.
If ur wary and think shes gunna play ya. get rid of her number, if u think opposite then giv her a ring - go out as a group of you so then u can see what shes like around u in front of people and u can see how she is with other men.

My best guest would be that she probably needed a break to see where she stood with you. And since she had time to think about it, or to see if there was other options (like guys), she most likely believes that she really wants you instead. But since I/We don't know the whole situation, it is hard to give advise. But if this didn't happen to often i would give her another chance. see where things go.

First i want to ask u do you got a lot of money? because if you do she probly wants to get make on your good side so she can suck the money right out of you. well watch your wallet and your pockets. Keep a close eye on your bank accounts and check books. hope this isnt the case. or simply maybe she just needs a great role in the hay. think about it and test the waters before diving in.........

I'm sorry...she left you for another boy and now she got dumped. She can't stand to be alone, so you just may be the fall back guy.
Please don't make yourself so available until you know the truth. Meet her for coffee NOT SEX and get the truth. She owes you that much. You've worth it!

She probably realized what a mistake it was to dump you in the first place and wants to get back together.
