...but wouldn't we simply use technology to improve desalination by then?...we already do it now...it just has to be made more efficient (can you name ANY chemical process that man hasn't made more efficient since its inception?)

your absolutely right.
We can make as much fresh water as we want with todays technology. The only down side is that it takes alot of energy to do it.
If we built more nuclear power plants (much cleaner than coal and other fossil fuels), we could be producing huge amounts of fresh water from the oceans.

It is impossible to run out of fresh water since more rains down from the sky every year. What they are saying is that there is not enough fresh water being rained down every year to meet the needs of the population if it grows as much as expected by 2080. So the problem isn't too little water, it is too many people.

What all these sources have in common is that yes we are running out of water. We can try some new technology or work at some reasonable attempt at water conservation around the world.The reasonable conservation is something that would last a lot longer.

Well I will be dead by then, isnt it sad? Who woulda saw something like that coming? Now scientist say that global warming can not be stopped now matter how humans control how much pollution they emit. Oh well.

It's not as good as the natural fresh water.
