I had gotten a chemical straightener(I recommend no one to do get one) and my hair is finally recovering. My hair type is course, thick, and curly. I just need some advice to help make my hair shiny, and silky. Styling products will work too. I really need shampoo and conditioner advice!!!

Cream of nature leaves your hair very soft and manageable, dove leaves your hair soft , but I like dove conditioner better than the shampoo.

Well, you learned the hard way the chemical straightener on your hair is awful. I know the challenge you faced getting your hair up to code again. I am a stylist and I refuse that service only because people just do not realize it destroys your hair. Here is one of the best products I can think of, Paul Mitchell serious straight shampoo and conditioner. They also have an assortment if serious straight styling products that will help with the healthiness, give you a straighter look, help the frizzies, and promote shine. Also,TiGi sells fashionista, which is a styler that protects against heat if you feel inclined to use a straightener(I would wait to use that till your hair has improved 90%). Good luck!

To get the frizz out of your hair...wash, then try enough conditioner in your hair to dangle it and then towel dry it. Place some conditioner in the palm of your hand, like hand cream and put it though the ends of your hair. It will not matter what shampoo/ conditioner you use...it is how you make it work for you. Plus, try to wash it every other day, too. Let your hair build back up the natural oils it should have in it. Washing everyday can be extra hard on hair that has been dyed, especially blond and fine hair, that is a bleach chemical on it. Give it a try, I think you will be surprised how nice and soft and manageable it will turn out. Don't be afraid of a second day style without washing it, it will be more maintainable the second day around and save you time, too. A quick hot curler here and there or a quick blow dryer with a round brush for a pick me up.

This may sound funny, but one very good shampoo is called 'Mane 'n Tail'. It sounds like a shampoo for horses because 'Mane 'n Tail' products were originally developed for horses. Straight Arrow - the company that produces 'Mane 'n Tail' products has this to say about their products:

"Horses' hair is three times thicker than people hair. People started using the products to achieve the beautiful results they saw with their own horses' manes and tails. This is where the legend of Mane‘n Tail products comes from, by nourishing, conditioning and fortifying the hair and scalp to aid healthier hair growth. Mane‘n Tail shampoo and conditioner maintains and helps to achieve longer, stronger, healthier more fuller looking hair. The results can be seen and felt after the first applications"

"Mane‘n Tail shampoo and conditioner is safe on permed, relaxed or color treated hair. Our shampoo cleanses hair thoroughly, yet will not strip natural oils. Our conditioner has an exclusive protein-based formula with amino acids to add natural oils to your hair."

The company says their formulas have been used for over 30 years, longer than many other brands have been available. I have used the shampoo myself and thought it worked very well. I don't use it at the present time though I remember it leaving my hair feeling really smooth, not dry and brittle.

The company makes products for hair, feet, skin, and hands & nails. Their products are sold in beauty supply stores, drugstores and big-box retailers. You can also buy the products at several online retailers that sell health and beauty products. For more information you can visit the company's web site at:

Head & Shoulders is recommended by my husband (and me). I would reccomend Aussi "Moist" - both not expensive but put some moisture into the hair. My real advise? Leave your hair alone for a while. You won't like this answer but am just trying to help you out. Your hair was probably beautiful before. Maybe a new haircut or a good trim?

Elucence shampoo and conditioner are both really nice. Finish up with a little leave in conditioner (I use a dime's amount of Sebastian Potion #9) and shine spray/serum (like Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny)

Use a sulfate free shampoo because sulfates dry out your hair and make it weak over time. Always check the ingredient list for them. Try to get argan oil shampoos because they're the most beneficial oil for making hair soft and healthy. Look online for Pro Natural’s argan oil shampoo. They have a conditioner too (silicone free) and if anything can make your hair super soft and shiny then it’s those.

Never had my hair straightened chemically that is, but I use Frizz ease and it seems to help manage the Frizz which gives you some shine. I know there one stuff I used one time that was too oily for me, but might work for you called bed head, that is sold in salons usually. I heard an old remedy was mayonaise but never tried it!
