I've been vacationing where I used to live 5 years ago. Dropped in out of the blue to my land lady who was always very nice to me. (She wasn't listed and lost number so I could not call in advance first.) I gave her some chocolates today.
Anyway I'm invited for dinner tomorrow. What should I bring? Beer or wine? Flowers? Another suggestion?

I wouldn't bring flowers unless you have a romantic interest...especially since you brought her chocolates already. You wouldn't want her to get the wrong impression. Ditto on the wine.
I'd bring a desert maybe? I realize that you're away from home, but surely there's a good bakery nearby.
Alternatively, you could bring a nice houseplant (which I think would be recieved differently than cut flowers).

I would say flowers. You may not know the kind of beer they like. If wine is to be served you wold need to know what kind of wine the menu calls for.
She has probably already planned for a desert.
You can never go wrong with flowers.

If you are invited to dinner, I would bring a nice bottle of wine. Though it all depends on what you are having. If all else fails, run by a bakery and pick up a nice pie or sweet bread to have with coffee later that night.

What does your landlady like?
She may not drink wine, so, you will have to think long.
Dessert is good. If she has a coffeemaker or if you know how she makes her coffee, you might bring some gourmet coffee, as well.
Maybe an CD t to listen to or maybe a movie.

I like the suggestion to bring something from a bakery. Either a nice loaf of bread or a nice dessert.
