Its salt that comes from the sea. Its usually a corser grained salt, and in my opinion tastes way better than the regular salt you buy in the grocery store.

Sea salt is exactly what it says it is. It comes from the sea (oceans) saltwater and the salt is filtered out of it.Some of the best sea salt comes from Maine. The process is to pour seawater through strainers catching the nuggets of salt. Then it is put to set until all water is completely evaporated. It is a easy process and can be a do it your-self job.Its size is like rock salt. There are many types on the market.Find the one you like and stay w/it. You will have to grind it in a salt mill similar to a pepper mill. Good luck and enjoy

Have you ever been to the ocean?

OK sea salt is sea water that is pumped out into pools. Allowed to dry out. Then filled again, and dried again. This is done several times. Sometimes it is sprayed into the air to evaporate the water quickly.

Then it is scooped up, and packaged. Sometimes a dead bird, or bugs may be in it. If filtered it still has those delicious flavors. No microbes though. The salt kills them... LOL Now you know!!! LOL

Salt that has been created by evaporating sea water. It is flaky and grainy and is typically used as a 'finishing salt' (throw a pinch on the food at the very end of cooking) due to its expense. It has no iodine added to it (table salt does, after eating kosher salt for a while I think iodized table salt tastes funny).

Hope this helps

Sea salt, a salt obtained by evaporating seawater, is used in cooking and cosmetics. Its mineral content gives it a different taste from table salt, which is usually sodium chloride refined from mined rock salt (halite), or refined from sea salt.
