Wellcome to the club buddy. It's called Agarophobia, and I'm speaking from experience on this one.
If you can still force yourself to go out, then you are not severely Agarophobic yet. You're just getting there.
Agarophobia is defined as fear of open spaces, but that's BS. It is a fear of social situations, crowds of people, and big gatherings.
Agarophobics often have trouble staying in line in a supermarket or going to a hockey game. Severe agarophobics cant go out at all. They'll have a "panic attack" whenever they will force themselves out on a busy street.
Look this stuff up on google, and you'll find lots of useful info.
My advice to you is TAKE IT EASY! Dont force yourself out if you can avoid it. If you can take a "back street" to avoid a busy street do that. If you can use the express lane in the supermarket instead of the "regular" line - do that. Try to start all over again.. Like a baby that's learning from scratch. First go to places that are less busy, then a bit more, more, and finally try places that give you a lot of trouble. Do research, try supplements, try meditation and yoga. Read about your problem. Knowlege is power.
You can see a psychiatrist/psychologist. If they will offer you medication, tell them to take a hike. You are not that far gone yet. Medication is the last resort.(and only a temporary solution)
Ask your doctor about CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Also inquire about NLP. These may help.

Agoraphobia...also Anxiety when you have to go out....Panic Attacks
This is a common state of inner tension; generally, there are feelings of anxiety, nervousness, apprehension or anticipation and, in some cases, panic. There can be poor concentration, indecision, restlessness and agitation. Sleep may be accompanied by shortness of breath with feelings of faintness (hyperventilation).
Meditation is very Helpful for this problem... try the breathing relaxation before going on to the specific meditations. As you practice, your mind will calm and settle; with preference you will experience highly beneficial effects.

Agoraphobia (the fear of being outside) can be due to many factors. You should arrange a meeting with a therapist to help unlock what is causing yours.
Since you are inviting speculation....
1. could be due to the fact that you don't feel like you are in control enough when you leave your house
2. You are afraid something could happen to your house when you are gone
3. You are afraid something could be waiting for you when you get back
4. You are afraid something will happen to you while you are out
Since I don't know what freaks you out about doing it (I don't think you know either, or you may have been able to talk yourself through it by now) You need to go see someone to help you get to the bottom of it.

Could be agoraphobia, make an appointment with your Doctor ASAP, this could be treated with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and possibly an SSRI medication.

See a psychiatrist. You may just need some medication for a chemical imabalance. Or you may need counseling. I know how you feel somewhat b/c I get afraid of everyday things, people and places at times, too. For me, it is a cycle of lack of sleep, a poor diet with too much sugar and not enough nutrition, too much thinking and thinking and thinking about things not worth thinking about, and not enough calming activities to clear my mind of strseses. I am also thinking of taking some anti-anxiety meds.

Seems you're afraid of insults, failures, consequences. Don't bother. Go out a lot on slightest pretexts, face the consequences. Once you go through it & face whatever there is to face, you'll have no problem. Do it NOW.

It sounds as though you have agoraphobia-a fear of open spaces. I would advise making an appointment with your doctor who will help you.

You just need the help of a mental health professional. Doesn't mean you're a bad person.
