Oh yeah. I had GAD and getting stressed out made me so sick that I eventually had to quit school for 6 months. Because of GAD, I have to watch out for myself and deal with stress better. If I have a cold and then get hit with a stressful situation, the cold gets worse and lasts twice as long. I was trying to avoid the stress and postpone dealing with it. That is the WRONG thing to do. I had to go through several doctors and tests before I found that out. I researched techniques and tips on reducing stress and so far I have been able to deal with it.

There is a bunch of medical things that happen when you get stressed out but to sum it up in a nutshell when you are occassionally stressed out it is good for you. It keeps you alert and going but continous stress basically wears your body down to where it can't function properly. Your immune system is one of those things that fills that strain.

Stress sure does lower your immune response.
Practice relaxation techniques, proper diet as well. Stress depletes your body of Vitamin B-complex, too.

Personally, I take Vitamin B complex vitamins along with a vitamin/mineral supplement.

Yes, I tend to get sick when stressed because I don't sleep or eat the way that I should. Stress affects me physically, mentally, emotionally; I just don't function very well If I get 'on overload' (so to speak).
I have found that taking Ester-C (vitamin C with herbs) helps me.
