It is not unusual to get "the chills" after burning "pretty bad". If you have no other medical problems, take Tylenol for the chills if you want to feel better. You can take 2 to 4 extra strength Tylenol every 2 to 4 hours for 24 hours only at this dose(start with 2 every 4 to 6 hours) and dose according to symptoms. This is better for you than aspirin. In addition, taking one aleve twice a day with a little food will be helpful. The Tylenol will provide symptomatic relief and relief from the chills but will not do anything to help you heal. The aleeve will provide an anti-inflammatory relief and actually help the tissue damage from the burn to heal. (one for symptoms and one for healing) The chills are generally worse at 12 to 16 hours after the burn and generally over after 24 hours although the soreness and tenderness is a few days(when peeling starts) This is because in effect, you cook your skin when burning that badly. On the skin, a soothing relief and moisturizer should be applied. Avoid any moisturizer that has alcohol(despite what the advertising says) as this will actually eventually dry it out...A cortisone cream in combination with a moisturizer with shea butter will provide the best relief and the best chance of avoiding peeling. You will tan better with short frequent exposure than with sudden long episodes until skin acclimates......................................pverrette

Since you didn't say if you have blisters or not. Or if you normally fake bake much or it's your first time.
The itching is caused by your skin getting really dried out.
Ok, if you have blisters, carefully, try soaking in a tub of warm/cool water, not for longer than 20 min. If you still feel have chills or start to feel sick go to the ER.you could have sun poisoning( radiation poisoning).

If no blisters then try soaking in the warm cool tub then,
soak a washcloth in white vinegar and drape it on the areas burned, should help to take the sting away and cool your skin.
Also take some ibuprofen. It will help with pain and swelling.

AFTER the heat is gone make sure to rub a high quality lotion on the burned areas to help with peeling.(Putting lotion on skin that is still hot holds the heat in longer, making it hurt longer.)

you just have a really bad sunburn, one that's almost like the burn people get in a fire. you should definitely go to the doctor so he can give you some kind of salve. the hospital might work too, but i'm not sure which will take longer.

If you are really burnt (blistering) the doc has a prescription creme (silver oxide or something)
But if it is a normal suntan burn then Noxzema all over it helps.
