If you say that god created the universe, then you MUST ask the next question, where did god come from. It is impossible for a being to be around before there was nothing around, something had to be there, so maybe that "something" was the creator of god. Then if there is a creator of god, who created that creator. An un-ending series of questions.

Why couldn't you just say that the universe has always been around? And if that is the case, then a creator is not needed. Perhaps the only ones who "invented" god were of human form.

Our perception of existence is linear and presumes a start and
a finish, and everything we can readily observe supports that fact.
However the existence of God is not controlled by a linear existence but as quantum physics suggests higher levels of existence are spherical in concept and exhibit no beginnings or ends only continuum

When asking this question, you are looking at it with the mind of a human (the only way you can consider it). Therefore, you can only comprehend what you know / understand to be true. Time is the issue here, your understanding of time is that it is a never ending thing that has started, has a 'present' and will go into the future forever.
What about if time didn't exist, what if god created time when making the universe (the bible tells us that god created day and night - could this be saying that he created time).
Now ithis is where the issue goes beyond the realms of our understanding. If there was no time, then that means there was no before, and hence no creator of god. He was just there or in effect he was the beginning. "In the beginning, God..." - genisus 1:1

Your error is saying that it is impossible to have something if there was nothing before it. It's our human minds that think something or someone was created, why does this have to be the case. Just becasuse we dont understand it doesnt mean it can't happen.

You will never get a straight answer to this as basically no one knows for sure. There will be many answers, but the only correct answer is that you will never know. It's an issue of faith or belief or whatever you wish to call it. and the issue is exactly the same whether you think of it as god, or the universe just exploding with the big bang etc.

Hope this helps

We can only partially comprehend the notion of God's existence. To do so, we must use human concepts to speak of God: "without beginning or end"; "eternal"; "infinite", etc. The Bible says that He has always existed: " . . . even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (Psalm 90:2). And, "Your throne is established from of old; Thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93:2). Quite simply, God has no beginning and no end. So, where did God come from? He didn't. He always was.
To us, the notion of time is linear. One second follows the next, one minute is after another. We get older, not younger and we cannot repeat the minutes that have passed us by. We have all seen the time lines on charts: early time is on the left and later time is on the right. We see nations, people's lives, and plans mapped out on straight lines from left to right. We see a beginning and an end. But God is "beyond the chart." He has no beginning or end. He simply has always been.
Also, physics has shown that time is a property that is the result of the existence of matter. Time exists when matter exists. Time has even been called the fourth dimension. But God is not matter. In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.
Eternity is a term that we finite creatures use to express the concept of something that has no end -- and/or no beginning. Since God has no beginning or end, He has no beginning. This is because He is outside of time.

God answers that question. He says, I AM the GREAT I AM. HE also says I AM the BEGINNING and the END. ALPHA and OMEGA. God just IS. If you are wanting a more scientific answer than you aren't really curious about where God came from are you? You are more interested in what man says about God. Until you are willing to listen to God and what He says about himself, you will never get it. You will always be blinded to the truth.

Mans greatest weakness is Faith. Because man insists he knows everything! If given an answer contrary to what he believes he will insist it is a fallacy. He will insist there must be another way! He will be deceived!

I think along the lines of you, however I'll give you the "official" answer. In philosophy in college (10 years ago) the professors made argument which he claimed proved the existence of GOD. His arguement is similiar to yours but with a different conclusion. He argued that everything needs something before it, a mover, so to speak and that for everything there is a FIRST MOVER and that first mover is "God".

According to the Quran, Allah tells us that He is the only creator and sustainer of all that exists and that nothing and no one exists alongside Him, nor does He have any partners. He tells us that He is not created, nor is He like His creation in anyway. He calls Himself by a number of names and three of them are:

A) The First - (Al-Awal)
B) The Last - (Al Akhir)
C) The Eternal, who is sought after by His creation, while He has no need from them at all. (As-Samad)
He always has existed and He never was created, as He is not like His creation, nor similar to it, in any way.
