They are actually related. Sin is an old archery term that means "to miss the mark". Karma is a term that refers to what comes back as a result of missing the mark, oh yeah, and hitting the mark as well.
If you tell your Creator in some way that you are only interested in accumulating material wealth or satisfying your other desires here on earth you may escape the result of your missing the mark while you are here. Some lead a charmed life no matter what they do. Some remain free and powerful though they commit the most horrible crimes against humanity.
The concept of sin or missing the mark is known in all religions. The terms may differ but the idea is basically the same. The idea is about taking personal responsibility for changing what you think and do so that you hit the mark, or attain to virtue. To stop sinning is to be forgiven.
God is the All Merciful the Forgiving.

The Bible says in Galations 6:7 `A man reaps what he sows`. As I understand it this is similar to the concept of karma, the difference being that karma is impersonal whereas in truth God has the power to punish or forgive sins.

To me, karma seems to give you more control, more of a chance to "earn back" some good points, and sin is more like, there's no going back type thing.
I think karma is a better concept for the world in general, since it gives you a reason to do good deeds. If you are Catholic and commit a sin, you say some prayers or whatnot, and it doesn't really do much except make you feel better.

Sin is "missing the mark". Karma is consequence for your actions... good and bad. They are linked in that sense, but they aren't the same. Karma could be broken down quite easily... you reap what you sow.

With sin, you must repent, ask forgiveness, and it's taken care of.
With karma (action, or result of action), you must be accountable and experience the effect of the cause you put out (good or bad).
There is good karma and bad karma. Sin is all just "bad". : )

Karma is that what comes around goes around.
Sin is just that you did something bad and you'll eventually have to do something to right whatever was done.. There's no good side to sin, but there can be a good side to karma, like if you do something nice for someone, it comes back as something good for you, etc.

karma is just good and bad come back to you.
it's close, but not exact. Christ taught that if you so good seed, you harvest good seed. Good seed (God ordained work for the advancement of His kingdom) can come back 10-100 times over. there isn't really a measurement for how much sin affects you, but "he who live by the sword, shall die by the sword". Plus we all know where those who have rejected Christ and died end up...

First let us understand the terms in English.
Karma=Action
Karma phala=Fruit of Action,i.e, Reaction to Action similar to Sir Isac Newtons third law of motion, "every action has equal and opposite reaction.
Papa=Sin
Punya=Pious
Karma means action is of two types,viz., Punya(pious) and Papa(sinful). The reaction one gets from Punya(pious) karma is happiness and reaction one gets from Papa(sinful) karma is unhappiness and suffering.

"Karma" doesn't exist. Sin does. "Karma" is a fake premise that has no effect on reality. Sin caused the fall of man and every man, woman, and child thereafter, and we're all under sin, and only forgiven when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, because He died and rose again to pay for our individual sins.

If you would like to compare Karma to Christian terminology, then compare Karma to Reaping What You Sow. Sin is completely different than Karma.
