Because back then if you tried anything with your neighbor's husband you were stoned to death.

Don't quote me on this, but in Bible studies class I actually asked the same question. They told me it was because it was allowed for women to all grind up on their neighbors husbands, so long as the man didn't covet her. I think she was actually encouraged to, and the term covet had some loose interpretation.

To be honest though, its been a couple years since classes so i'm not sure.

There are two accounts in the Bible about these situations.

1. David and Bathsheba - 2 Samuel 11
2. Potiphar's Wife and Joseph - Genesis 39

This outlines mis-behavior by both sexes.

because even God knows men are dirty dogs and will covet every woman!
seriously, do you know what covet means? it means to want for something that is not yours. remember, the Bible has been translated many times, and mostly when it says "men" it means all of us, men and women

A bit of playfulness here. Back then men had more than one wife. But women only had one husband. So as God was speaking in the plural, we got sort of left out..Beyond that, I think God thought we women did were not too lustful. What with no birth control and all. (this is spoof)

it's probably because women are not as h*rny as men. seriously. it's natural for women to stay with a single mate, while men will keep looking for other potential mates. it's how we behave. so that is why you don't see many wives coveting other husbands, and why it isn't necessar to stop them.

there is no good or evil but thinking makes it so

the book of the law chapter i

31. For these fools of men and their woes care not thou at all! They feel little; what is, is balanced by weak joys; but ye are my chosen ones.

32. Obey my prophet! follow out the ordeals of my knowledge! seek me only! Then the joys of my love will redeem ye from all pain. This is so: I swear it by the vault of my body; by my sacred heart and tongue; by all I can give, by all I desire of ye all.

41. The word of Sin is Restriction. O man! refuse not thy wife, if she will! O lover, if thou wilt, depart! There is no bond that can unite the divided but love: all else is a curse. Accursed! Accursed be it to the aeons! Hell.

58. I give unimaginable joys on earth: certainty, not faith, while in life, upon death; peace unutterable, rest, ecstasy; nor do I demand aught in sacrifice.

Chap ii

56. Begone! ye mockers; even though ye laugh in my honour ye shall laugh not long: then when ye are sad know that I have forsaken you.

57. He that is righteous shall be righteous still; he that is filthy shall be filthy still.

This should mean that I do better with married women then I do. I might be able to incorporate this question into a pick up line. Gratzie.
