Butter is much better. Most people don't eat a ton of cookies, so the amount of butter eaten will be negligible.

Actually butter is better than margarine. The proof is in the taste of the cookies.

While talking about cookies, if you haven't tried snickerdoodles, you should. The recipe is on this site and these are some of the best cookies there are. At least I think so.

Definitely butter. Margarine has a ton of chemicals and other additives which are worse for your health than the fats in butter are. Cookies are a treat, and should be treated as such. Now I am thinking about baking some cookies for the weekend....yum. Have a good night.

It depends on the cookie. Some cookies that are supposed to be crisp do better with margarine (the really cheap kind, no water in it)
Chocolate chips do best with 1/2 butter and half Crisco.

100% butter!!! :) margarine is actually not healthy for you, it can be considered a plastic. you want proof? buy any tub of margarine and leave it in a cool place for a long period of time... it 1) will not rot and 2) no flies will go near it. i did the experiment myself and i think it's really cool!!!

btw, you know how some birds were killed??? they were fed a substance in margarine (it is indigestible). butter is still the best--just exercise the saturated fat off!!!

butter. If you are making and eating cookies, then there is no reason to use artificial ingredients like margarine. I always try to bake with natural ingredients (ie ingredients whose components I can pronounce, spell, picture in my imagination)...or at least as close to natural as possible...Also, I think that most recipes are devloped using butter, so to get the most authentic flavor you'll want to use the same ingredients.
