The outpouring of holy spirit at the time of Jesus’ baptism marked the time of his becoming in actual fact the Messiah, or Christ, God’s Anointed One (the use of this title by angels when announcing his birth evidently being in a prophetic sense; Lu 2:9-11, note also vss 25, 26). For six months John had been ‘preparing the way’ for “the saving means of God.” (Lu 3:1-6) Jesus, now “about thirty years old,” was baptized over John’s initial objections, voiced because John till then had been baptizing only repentant sinners. (Mt 3:1, 6, 13-17; Lu 3:21-23) Jesus, however, was sinless; hence his baptism testified instead to his presenting himself to do his Father’s will. (Compare Heb 10:5-9.) After Jesus had ‘come up from the water,’ and while he was praying, “he saw the heavens being parted,” God’s spirit descended upon Jesus in bodily shape like a dove, and Jehovah’s voice was heard from heaven, saying: “You are my Son, the beloved; I have approved you.”—Mt 3:16, 17; Mr 1:9-11; Lu 3:21, 22.

There is proof and documentation of Jesus' miraculous doings. Only testimonies actually, but all of history is just made up of documented testimonies- therefore the Bible is just as reliable as any history book, it is a book of documented history in itself.
C.S. Lewis said in "Mere Christianity" that Jesus could only be one of three possibilities; Lord (God), liar, or lunatic. Jesus did say that he was God (according to any the testimonies we have of his words). So to say that he was really only a prophet from God is ludacris, because if he was then he was either a liar or a lunatic as well as a prophet. Why would God send a prophet that says he "IS" God? Which would mean God's prophet was a liar. So he couldn't have been just a mere prophet. Then all that's left is he was a crazy man, who for the same reasons would mean all he could amount to is as I said... a crazy man.
Check out "Mere Christianity", C.S. Lewis says it a thousand times better than I have. He also discusses why Christians make any of the claims that they make and what makes their claims so logical.
The rest is a matter of trying to begin a relationship with Jesus through dicussion with him (some people call it prayer but don't look at it as the normal person looks at prayer- it's a matter of beginning a relationship through discussion with Jesus, God). If he is really God he will answer- he will!

Well its all faith, thats why being a christian is so hard and probably in fact that hardest of all religion (personally, I like the challenge). Well if the man walked on water that would convince me, but how did i know it happened, i dont. I would like to believe in something than nothing at all. Plus it makes me feel good. Though true proof, I cannot show you nor tell you, I'm sorry.

As for God, there is evidence for those who seek it, but not physical proof. Science simply cannot prove God's existance, because God created science.
As for Jesus; either he is who he says he is, or he is not. How can you know? Well if the miracles recorded in the Gospels aren't enough evidence, then I would have to say that is where the Holy Spirit comes in.

1. There is no proof that Jesus actually existed.
2. There is no proof of Gods' existence
3. To conclude that a nonexistent Jesus is the "son" of a non-existent god takes more faith than I have ever been able to muster.

He is described that way in the Gospels, as in "For God gave his only begotten Son..."
Perhaps the real question is what is the proof of that the Gospels are true?

I would like the answer myself.
Since Mary could not possibly be a virgin. I mean, is the hymen still intact after birth?
There really isn't more proof. Hence, the rift between the Christian and Jewish faith.

No proof that Jesus is his son...just words that have been twisted to appear as such in the translations of the original Bible texts...
And you can also blame the Council of Nicaea for solidifying his promotion to divinity...

Well, what would be the point of faith then? Although I know someone who knows about this stuff. But be careful, make sure that you believe in God and not a book. They are two different things. www.pathofreason.com its not fully up yet but if you're curious then check it out.
