No, but they certainly have a dark side. There's nothing wrong with horror novels if your life is balanced otherwise. I think from your other question, that you should join the human race, makes some friends and don't become obsessed with horror novels. I'm sure your mom would like to see that too.

Do people who believe that people who write horror novels are 'demonic posson' (I think you meant demonically possessed) deserve free lifetime membership to the mental hospital of their choice?

If your mom believes in God, then she knows that he gave us a brain to think with and imagine with. Horror writers have vivid imaginations. Some people, in the old days, were taught that those who read, couldn't think for themselves. That doesn't sound very nice does it? I am a mom, and I love horror stories. I don't believe it has anything to do with the devil. Some closed minded people, on the contrary do. Use the brain and heart God gave you and make your own decisions.

No they are entertaining and /or talented sometimes. As the father of psychology Sigmund Freud said :Demons do not exist any more than gods do, being only the products of the psychic activity of man. your mother is left witted as to say she doesn't approve or even like horror novels.that's her right of judgment and taste.
