Well that depends on what it is, if it's something truely tragic like a death or a loss of some sort, make sure it's done in person, make them sit down and have water and tissues near by. Even if it's not this would still work, make sure you tell them gently, leave out grusome details unless they ask for them, even then sugar coat them atleast the first time through. (Unless it's something you did wrong, in which case absolute truth ONLY, no sugar coating.)

As kindly as possible... meaning if they are having other family crisises, hold off until they are strong enough to handle it.

If it's something that can't wait, then use your heart to guide you in handling that person, and again, just as gentle as you can while deliveing the information.

Hard to give good information, when the details of the devestating news isn't included.

The best advice is to go some where quiet, and explain what you have to say, keeping your feelings honest, and speaking to them with love, respect and honesty. You have nothing to lose if you are being honest and you value there relationship and need to be honest. Sometimes it is hard to be truthful especially if it goes against the grain of trust and loyalty, but to continue to hide only makes things harder. Many blessings Mysticbutterfly

Prepare them first by telling them that you need to tell them something devastating & do it in person,,not over the phone if possible.Do it gently & politely & with care & support.
I remember all too well when I had to tell my family that I had found my brother who had perished in his sleep suddenly @ the age of 49.All I had to do was look at my Mom & she at me & she knew.I didnt even have to say anything at that moment.

I am sorry but your question is to vague for a definitive answer. I suppose I would pray for the right words, mindset and tone of voice and just say it. My best to you.
