I know that permanent highlights dry out and damage my hair...but will demi do the same? Will the color be as rich as a permanent highlight job?

There is no such thing as demi permanent hilites. Hilites are LIGHTER, and lightening is permanent.

There is no way you can get highlights with demi color. the only way you can lighten the hair is by removing pigment and once you do that it doesn't just come back. As long as your using professional products getting highlights are not a problem. And get them done professionally.

Nope, demi-permanent won't damage your hair, plus it will gradually fade over time so you don't have to worry about roots. The color will be just as good as permanent.
