I've tried to manage the programs option so the icons wouldn't show on the task tray. But some of them don't have this option. What should I do?

firstly, is the problem the actual icons appearing? or the slowing down of your comp because of all the processes in the background? If its just the appearance that bothers you then right click on the bar at the bottom of your screen and select properties then click on customize under the notification area and you can choose to hide certain icons and have tyo press an arrow to see them. if the performance is annoying you, then you have to change program options or uninstall the programs

hit the start button and select run from the menu. in run, type MSCONFIG. this will open a startup program show what runs during startup. so you don't screw up your system, only click on the "startup" tab and select ONLY the programs that are the icons you want to get rid of. if you uncheck the wrong program not to startup it will freeze your system and, well you might as well take it to a service tech and tell him you decided to mess with something you didn't know what it was. everythin list in the startup list are the programs that make your system bootup and run. deseling the icon programs will not hurt a thing, they just won't start with the rest of the system!!

Right click, Properties, There is a "Customize" button at the bottom by "Hide inactive icons"... I hope that is what you meant. Right click on the BAR.

You can get rid of the notification area completely by using Start-->Run-->gpedit.msc In user Config, Admin Templates, start menu and taskbar. Be careful, you can do a lot of damage in here.
