How can some indoor plants help to improbe the quality of air in a room

They suck up certain bad chemicals and filter them out with good stuff, like an air purifier. Spider plant is the most common, along with english ivy.

When plants photosynthesise they remove carbon dioxide from the air and replace it with oxygen. In effect cleaning the air.
