Infer why energy used by many living things on earth can be traced back to sunlight

Coal is the result of fossilized plant life. These plants lived because of the energy from the sun that allowed them to conduct photosynthesis.

Dinosaurs (thought to be a source of petroleum products) ate these plants.

The only energy that can not be traced back to sun is Nuclear Energy (but it replicates the processes of the sun to generate fusion).
