My mom got me a sivler necklace for Christmas, and I've worn it every day since. But today in math class, my friend noticed that my skin was turning grayish-green around my neck. I think it has something to do with the necklace because it's right where the chain goes around my neck. Is this normal? Can it hurt me?

You need to take the necklace off and clean it with jewelry cleaner and clean your neck with lots of elbow grease. Your neck might need some additional cleaning agent to get the stain off. It is the residue from the silver that is staining your neck. It will be best is you clean the necklace on a regualr basis and your neck to prevent this from happening again. If you are alergic to it you would get a rash. I don't think it could be toxic from just the period from Christmas until now, but play it safe and clean it fairly often, okay. Best wishes!

No, it won't hurt you but I would not wear that necklace if were you. Basically t turning green means that it is not real silver and you are sensitive to cheap stuff.

You could have a sensitivity to the metal or the necklace was coated, and the coating has worn off.
