I'm going to replace all the interior doors in my house. Is it better to buy slabs and mortise/bore/hang them myself, or buy pre-hung doors?

It`s kind of a toss up Jim. I`m not going to set out to sway you one way or the other. Let`s look at the prehung venture. How old is your house? Are the walls a nominal thickness? Is you existing trim of aesthetic value? Throw a level on your wall, are they plumb? These are a few things to consider when going this route. As far as the slabs go, if all the doors you`re replacing operate adequately, this at times, can be a quicker and cheaper direction to turn. Especially if you`re handy and have all the tools.

If your current doors are hung with good reveal and fit you could go to the trouble of doing as you suggest. I wouldn't look forward to matching up the bore and mortises to the existing frames.
If you are doing a lot of doors I would recommend pre-hungs.

U-Channel prehung doors save time for installation, and are also easier than the prehung that comes with the casing separate. The U-channel are usually fingerjoint pine as opposed to MDF material for the other type. Unless you are a pro with an expensive jig.... there you go.

Depends on the age of your house and the dimensions of the door openings. Pre-hung doors come with their own moldings and door jambs and easily fit into existing openings that fall within the acceptable dimensions stated on them.

It would probably be easier to go with the pre-hung doors.
