Spanish Speakers Please Help!!! (Castillian)?

Question

How would I say I like(d) something past tense? In spanish. My teacher told me you can never say something like this:***

a) ?Te gusto la comida?
b) Si, me gusto mucho. ******
She said you can never say something like "Me gusto mucho" Is this true? I want to learn this correct so "Castillian" Speakers please chime in too.

The problem is not with the question but with the answer. She said I can only say "gusta" never ever can I say "gusto" (I am Mexican and I speak spanish but I am taking it for the credit) I have always used "Si, me gusto mucho" when I am saying I liked something in the past tense ( I do use the accent signs on my homework)

She says if someone were to ask me (In spanish) Did you like the concert yesterday? I can ONLY reply like this:

Si, me gusta mucho.

NOT-- Si, me gusto mucho.

Whenever you have a question in past tense using the verb "like" you can answer with "me gustó" . That´s the correct form for the 1st person in past tense. Another example: ¿Te agradó la película? Si, me agradó muchisímo. It means: Did you enjoy the movie? Yes, i enjoyed it a lot.
I´m a language teacher and native Spanish speaker and she´s wrong. Perhaps she said it was wrong because you wrote it like "gusto" instead of "gustó", those little marks on syllables are really important in Spanish.

Your teacher is wrong. At least on a practical sense. I would like to know about her reasoning for saying that. I am Mexican and the past tense in this case is completely OK. You say "¿Te gusta la comida?" when the person you are talking to is in the middle of eating. When you ask "¿te gustó la comida"? you're meaning "did you like the food?" (the other person has already finished eating). There's no error in it.

Mmmm, listen to diomedes.. he's right, you can totally say "si, me gustó mucho" as long as you use the accent in the o.
Spanish is tricky... It's all in the accent... in your example,if you don't use it, you will be referring to yourself "si, me gusto mucho = yes, i like myself a lot" and that would be wrong answer...

You can totally say it, at least in Spain.

a) Te gustó la comida? = Did you like your food?

b) Si, me gustó mucho = Yes, I liked it very much.

Notice the accent on the 'o' 'gustó'

Other possibilities are:

a) Te ha gustado la comida? = Have you liked your food?

You are right, you can of course say

Me gustó meaning in the past tense.

if you say
Si, me gusta mucho - it is in the present tense.

Where is your teacher from? Send her back to school.

I speak spanish, Puerto Rican Dialect, not Castillian, Spanish dialect.
a) ?Te gusta la comida?
b) si, me gusta mucho

Is "Me gusta mucho"; "me gusto mucho" means I like myself very much; gusto (when is a verb) means somethng about yourself and gusta is the verb in third person

I speak the Mexican dialect, and I'm pretty sure you're Spanish teacher is retarded because me/te/le/nos gustó mucho is the way to say I/you/he/she/we liked something in the past, as long as the subject is singular e.g. nos gustó el viaje but me gustaron esos zapatos. hope that helped!

I do not believe that ¿Te gusto la comida? is correct. It should be ¿Te gusta la comida? or ¿Te gustó la comida?
My understanding is that "me gusto" means I like myself. However, if you are talking about something that you liked yesterday, then "me lo gustó" is the correct usage.
