I will be on vacation for 5 days there and am considering getting a tattoo there if I can find someone that is really good. Nothing major - Asian symbols on my lower back. I just don't have a lot of free time at home to do this so I am considering getting it done at the tail end of my trip. Would anyone advise against this? (pain, might be uncomfortable flying home?) Thanks :)

The best places are in Pacific Beach, I got three of my tattoos there! It's cheap and clean and the guys do that all the time, they are great. + everybody's tattoed in PB so you have tons of pictures to help you choose.
The pain shouldn't be that bad as to bother you during the trip back hom. I have one on my back and itonly really hurt when I was sleeping on my back. But it's in my upper back, so yours might hurt when you're sitting!

There is a great place in Costa Mesa-- about an hour's drive north of Carlsbad.
If you want the name, let me know in your details here.
It will feel like a scrape on concrete. Not terribly painful, but sorta uncomfortable while its in the healing process.
