Normal. Use the lotion, later after all the "scabs " fall off go back to the artist if there are any blank pi holes he'll fill them in for free. It's standard. It's hard to ink solid color. Don't you worry!

Ok here's what you do.... Do not scrub it when you wash it. Just lightly clean it with Ivory bar soap. It should be scabbing but you should not peel the scabs off. Put A+D ointment on it a couple times a day (forget the palmers) I have never put lotion on mine that soon. When it heals up in a week and a half and it has spots of ink missing, the artist should be able to touch it up for free, if not then they are a sorry artist that gave you bad advice! I worked in a tattoo shop forever and I have many tattoos and have tried many different methods for healing. That one works the best. Good luck with it.
Oh and also I have 2 shamrocks on my back that I never covered up and now my husband has 2 shamrock tattoos on his seat in his truck from where the ink leaked out while my back was pressed up against the seat. They look bad because I didn't take the best of care of them and I talked to the guy that did them and he said he would fix them for free but I wound up pregnant so they still need re-doing!

every artist will tell you a different way to take care of it and most like me will tell you to use a&d ointment washing it 3-4 times a day first wait 15-20 min then apply a very thin layer of a&d using cold water and fingers only and when you dry it off pat it dry do not rub it and a lil ink seeping out is normal when you shower dont let hot water run on it , it may need a few touch-ups and like you admitted its prolly from your jeans rubbing it , and when you go back your artist will know as soon as they see it why it faded like not taking care of it properly , believe it or not theres alot of people like you just try to learn from this mistake and take better care of it next time ok

Some of the ink in a tattoo will "fall out" and that's fairly natural. Once you're all healed, you can go back in for a touch-up on the ink (which most artists won't charge for, but it's nice to tip them well even if they don't charge).
If you're wearing snug clothes in that area and it's not fully healed, you could be causing a bit of damage to the artwork. Consider wearing your clothes more losely for a bit, and also consider covering your artwork if you must wear restrictive clothing in the area covering your tattoo.
What worked better for me with my tattoos for healing - Aquaphor. I'm not kidding - one of my tattoos is about the size of the palm of my hand, and that sucker HEALED in under a week with the liberal use of Aquaphor.

well for one i have never heard of putting that kind of lotion on a tattoo b4 i always used tattoo goo or plane lubaderm and i washed it 2 times a day with liquid dial like they said to the tattoo will peal but it shouldnt take the color with it. it is just like a sun burn it peels if i were you i would let it heal up and go back to them and make them touch it up most of the time they will do it for free. if i were you i wouldnt wear my pants over it for right now until it gets done peeling for the simple fact that can cause it to peel the scabs off and make scars bigger...

Its totally normal, just like Beckajolee said.
The first scab comes off and the scab is colored just like your skin. It looks like the tattoo itself is coming off, but its not. As the skin heals more, the actual tattoo color will be brighter.
And like she said, if there are any blank spots (sometimes the ink does not "take"), your artist will fill in it after about 6 weeks of healing.
Enjoy!

Hey, this is normal for the 1st layer of skin to peel off... Once peeling process is finished look for any shading faults and go back to your tatooist for a touch up...
Congratulations of your Tattoo!!

When I got my tattoos, I was told not to get them wet for 24 hours. I bought a soap called Provone or you can use Dial liquid soap (clear), and used on them to clean them. I also used Curel lotion (or you can get Tattoo Goo) on my tattoo as well to prevent it from drying. This worked. I had some fading in the color and I went back to the tattoo parlor and they touched it up for me at no extra charge. You might want to call them and see if they can touch it up for you or just stop in and ask. Most will usually touch them up at no charge usually within your first year. If you ever get any piercings, the same soap works wonders too! It keeps your piercings from getting infected as long as you keep them clean and dry until they heal completely. Good luck! The peeling stage of getting a tattoo is normal, it's like a scab when you scrape yourself it's just healing. Congrats on your tattoo!

leave it alone.
wash it when you get a shower. dont scrub it.
If its on an area that is gonna get bumped or brushed against, chances are you're gonna need a touch up down the road. just DONT PICK at it, or it makes it worse and most places will charge you for the touch up if its obvious you picked at it.
