Leviticus is a beautiful book when studied for its rich types and shadows of Christ. The abiding value of Leviticus is four-fold. 1. it is a revelation of the Divine CHARACTER to us today as much as it was to Israel of old. God has not changed. 2. The symbolic exposition of the BASIC PRINCIPLES which underlie all dealing between God and men. The spiritual realities that the Priesthood and sacrifices pictorially declared are true for all time even though the Priesthood and sacrifices themselves have been fulfilled in Christ. 3. It provides a body of CIVIL LAW for the Theocracy. The principles should guide legislation even today. Religion and State, Capital and Labor, land-ownership and property rights, marriage and divorce - these and other matters are dealt with in Leviticus. 4. It is a treasury of symbolic and typical teaching. Greatest spiritual truths are enshrined in vivid symbols. Great facts of the New Covenant are illustrated by great types in the Old Covenant. It is an advanced UNVEILING OF CHRIST. It is a "treasury of Divinely chosen illustrations as to the way of a sinner's salvation through the priestly work of the Son of God, and as to his present and future position and dignity as a redeemed man." In some of the figure-language of Leviticus there are great PROPHECIES that have yet to be fulfilled.

Not a bit. God gives detailed instructions for performing ritualistic animal sacrifices. Such bloody rituals must be important to God, judging from the number of times that he repeats their instructions. Indeed the entire first nine chapters of Leviticus can be summarized as follows: Get an animal, kill it, sprinkle the blood around, cut the dead animal into pieces, and burn it for a "sweet savor unto the Lord."

In view of modern medicine superseding the advice on purity .And in light of one billion Atheist I must say none of the theist superstition is sane so enjoy your barbecue. Also the idea of messiah sacrifice for those bound to hell anyway is either an injustice of pardon or an injustice of cruel and unusual punishment . So if one dons their thinking cap rather than blind acceptance cap nothing is of sane worth by today's standards of scientific knowledge in medicine and spiritual philosophy .

Peace be with you. The truth shall make you free.

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,...

The law was given by Moses, but Truth and Grace came by Jesus Christ.

Moses gave you not that bread from heaven.

All that were before me were theives and robbers.

If you love me, then keep my commandments.
