I know two people who are married. They make enough money to live on their own without government aid, he is a construction worker and she also works as well. He is paid under the table so therefore no way of anyone proving how much he makes. They lied to the state saying he was unemployed and that they needed all of this assistance, they receive all of the below stated
* 400 dollars in food stamps
* I believe about 200 some in cash assistance
* H.U.D to pay for their house
* utility assitance
* medicaid
* WIC
I mean they can afford all of this on their own with the money he makes. My fiance used to be good friends with her husband and now he doesn't talk to him because of what he is doing. We both find it wrong. I think I have such a problem with this b/c my fiance's hard earned money that gets taxed to death goes to people like that who are cheating the system badly.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THIS SITUATION??

to the one who said it is not good to be a snitch wouldn't you rather the government found out and cut them off so that more and more of our tax dollars don't go to losers like this??

I work my @ss off so that these lazy, dishonest people can cheat the system and get more than they even deserve? Damn right I'd report them!

I would turn them in. That's a huge reason why people look down upon others who are on government assistance in general, and it's not fair to those who don't cheat the system at all. Now if they weren't making enough, for real, then that's one thing, but if they can afford a family, then why do they need to steal? That's so wrong.

Good luck whatever you choose to do- I was just in a situation where I was debating on whether or not to turn in a Mom to children's services to have her looked into because I saw child abuse... and as much as I didn't want to get involved, my gut said it was the right thing to do, so if your gut is saying to do this, then do it. It doesn't matter if people tell you not to, it's what your heart says and what would make you feel better. You wouldn't be a snitch- they shouldn't be doing that in the first place!

Yes, turn them in. You can do it anonymously. You can generally get a 800 # from the welfare office to do this.

Just know that in my experience (I'm a welfare caseworker in Texas)- if the guy is being paid under the table, and the investigator can't get his employer to verify his wages- then the fraud report will go nowhere.

Not because it's fair- but without proof, no DA will take a welfare case that can't be proved.

This is the type of thing that happens alot. I see it all the time (or rather, I suspect this all the time, but there really isn't alot that can be done).......all you can do is report it and let the system do what they can. In some cases, when a client is questioned about potential fraud, it's sometimes enough to make them stop or withdraw from the system.

I would absolutely turn them in. Your and my tax dollars are supporting them. Also when I was younger and my little sister was still under 18 my father had a heart attack with no medical insurance. My mother tried to get temporary aid, food stamps, anything and she made $1.25 a month too much. I feel if people weren't out there cheating the system she may have been able to get aid. Call today and report them, if you know where he is working be sure to tell them that, and you can be kept anonymous

I'd turn them in. My daughter had Healthchoice for the first year because her father was working contract for a company and wasn't on the insurance plan yet. We're very young and can't afford to shell out the premiums the insurance people want when you don't have it through your employer. But the minute he was hired on a as permanent employee we got her on the insurance plan and called to cancel her Healthchoice. The programs are there for people who actually need help for a small period of time. Not everyone cheats the system but when people do it just hurts everyone. People who truly need the help can't get it and the general populace gets angry about the entire "system". Those people need to be turned in because they're taking away from the tons of truly impoverished people who live in the US.

We would never strive to better ourselves if we didn't have to. In order for our welfare system to work, we need good honest people using it. Reporting a person who is receiving benefits, but doesn't really need them isn't taking away from them. If the person in question is employed and doesn't qualify for the benefits legally, then the person doesn't deserve them. It isn't a matter of being a snitch, as the person above stated. It is about having an obligation as an American to see that your country's welfare system is operated correctly.

Every tax payer in the country pays for these greedy people to scam the welfare system.
You might as well give them more money when they come over.
I know that sounds sarcastic, but its the truth. Don't condone their actions.
You really should alert someone in the system to there actions.
When the dire strait type emergencies come up, its us legit people that go thru hell getting help.

The right thing to do is to report them. If you need a reason that does not sound "snitchy", think about the waiting list for HUD assistance. In my area (SoCal), the waiting list is 3 years! These people are blocking others (including children) who rightfully need and are entitled to the assistance.

I would not hesitate to turn them in.

Definitely yes. So many people that don't need the assistance cheat their way into obtaining extra cash. Its not right we have to pay for them to live high on the hog, and certainly not right for those people who do need it to be denied. Please report those people and hopefully they will have to repay the government all monies they received. I wish I knew who they were.

Tell them!!. They are cheats and stealing. If you stole $10 from someone you would get arested. Just because its the govt, gives them no right.

Sorry, but I don't believe its fair when other work their tails off to make a living.
