I guess for the same reason people think I'm an athiest just because I like to play the devil's advocate sometimes...'assumpions'.

My guess is that, like any religious path, atheism has its set of unreasonable extremists. Although I do consider myself a devout Christian, there are tacts from atheists that I think are refreshing and logical, such as a call to reason regarding Biblical references.

But, like you, there are too many times when a well-considered thought can spin into mere finger-pointing where religion (or the denial of its validity) are concerned.

If you are not an atheist, and then assert that god will be found in science, you are making religious statements. You left yourself wide open for that because you presented a statement that sounds religious. I am an atheist, but I often pose religious questions. I do not get upset when someone makes an assumption based on my questions.

Because it is easier to put people into a certain category (whether hated or disliked) and then dismiss them summarily. For atheists who have conveniently classified themselves as the intelligent ones and religious folks as the non-thinking class, this is the easy way out for them. Just attach a label to you and dismiss everything else. It's an intellectual cop out!

Atheists work from the stand point of Logic, Rationality, Intelligence and Observation.

What makes you assume that they assumed you are religious?

I'm not sure what you mean. If you say you believe in a god then I think your a theist. I wouldn't think you were religious unless you mentioned a particular branch.

Why do people jump all over atheists when they want to blame someone? Get a life. We don't care if you're religious or not.

It is quite easy to accidentally assume those with opposite opinions represent the opposite belief.
