I'm moving into a new apartment and I have a tight budget on my vision of having a contemporary living room. I've looked at IKEA, but I want more options...

Hit Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. Find cheap stuff and reupholster it yourself. I have a fabulous rocker that cost me a grand total of $30 when I was finished with new fabric and a staple gun on it.

Ebay is my first choice for cheap contemporary furniture. If you find someone in your area selling you can pick it up right from their home so that cuts on delivery charges.

I found somethings on ebay listed under contemporary.. this is just an example of what you can find there...

Rattan furniture is another budget-concious approach. It's commonly referred to as papa-san furniture. It's lightweight, strong, and inexpensive...also comfortable.

Target has some really neat furniture online that they don't sell in the stores.

IKEA is a good choice. They have reasonable prices and good quality.
