I think he'll love it. You're not in the wrong for getting these tickets for him and not wanting to go. I think it's a very selfless and nice thing to have done for him. Good for you.
If he knows you don't care for the band then he'll most likely just thank you and call his buddies. He might, however, feel obligated to take you, which is why when you give him the tickets, or he opens them, you tell him that you that he and a couple friends would have a good time at the show. This way he knows you're stepping out of the deal on this one. Trust me, any guy would be thrilled to have a girlfriend like you!

I think he will appreciate the gift, and also appreciate having a girlfriend who trusts him to go out with his friends, and not worry about him getting into any trouble. I think it is a nice gift, i think it is a great idea. I know i would love it if my boyfriend got me tickets to go see my favorite band with my friends.....but he is too jealous, and wouldn't trust me to go alone with my friends.

Of course your not wrong in that! I think its awesome that you would buy not only him the tickets but also some for his friends. Let him know that the extras are for his friends, and tell him he has to gave a good time! I think it was very thoughtful of you! Good job! :o)
