I was an Atheist. I had the experience of seeing someone come back to life after a prayer. No medical people around. Later when I was baptized into the church I felt the spirit come upon me and I had a year later a mystical experience of God's presence while at a monastery. I am open minded and question many things, but of the existence of God I am sure.

My experience of G-D causes me to have faith while my belief in holy scripture determines how I have faith. I had some powerful experiences as a child with G-D which caused me to be interested in the scriptures after studing I found the fallacy of Christianity and the lies it contained. But through study of the Torah I found my way.

I have faith but not in 'god'

I enjoy life and it's many experiences and lessons

I feel there is no sacred and no holy

or, all is sacred and all is divine we just find reasons to 'hate' and disrespect each other and harm

before being a Humanist, I was very experience and feeling oriented for my faith/belief to be validated, with others conveniently giving things new names and religious connotations that exist outside of their faith, such as the body healing itself.

now just more involved with actions, less about beliefs, I think my faith and beliefs are really my own personal convictions based on my experiences and what is true/real for me.

I have been let down by people and thier gods too many times, found peace learning to love self and others outside of religion or other things that devide us against ourself

Great Question!

My faith is triggered or enhanced by my Experience of God! My Faith Tradition calls this Sacred Tradition. This experience of God can not be the only revelation of faith however, and must always conform to Scriptures, and the Magisterium established by Jesus the Christ Himself.

I believe the scriptures but my personel experience is what puts me over the top I have had God work so much in my life I can not deny Him. My Mother always told me about God and Jesus and such but we never went to Chruch. so I did not know much about Him but what she had said. Then when I was seventeen my Mom was diagnosed with cancer I was very scared and so I prayed very hard to God to keep her here for at least ten more years that I was to young to lose her. When I was 28 she came down with it again, I was real scared then, she was dying and I knew it. So one night at the hospital I was walking and praying again that she would have ten more years I had forgot about the prayer I had said years earlier, then out of knowhere I felt a thump on the back of my head and heard-- I gave you eleven years she is mine now. I knew I had to let her go. Her last words to anyone was an old Christian Hymn there is Power in the Blood. she died peacfully the next day. that was 15 years ago since then I have had many experiences that have confirmed God to me. I felt Him hold me up His arms around me in times of great stress I have had Him guide my car over bad roads so I could get my niece to the hospital quickly. There are so many things. I could never list them all. HE Is the Real Deal!!

When you say "triggers your faith" if you mean ahat makes your faith greater, I would say that there is still one more option, EXPERIENCE the Holy Scriptures!

If you mean "triggers" to mean what makes you believe, or what gives you faith, then I would answer that God gives each of us a measure of faith, then, when we can humble ourselves to receive His Salvation gift (Jesus), He gives us the indwelling of the Holy Spirit - which then "triggers" the rest of our lives!

I read the word everyday-love it, but now am meeting people who get power from the Holy Spirit. this builds my faith. They get words from God that are right on-just what the person needed ! I am starting to get intune with Holy spirit-that builds my faith. The word and power go together.

One without the other would be either foolish or turn out to be wishful thinking. Faith comes from hearing and that includes obedience. God says, you chose to trust it, do what He says, experience victory, experience God. Such faith is not mere fancy, but certainty. It's experiential and interactive.

They go hand in hand...

See, personally:

Before I got saved I was skeptical. I heard the message that day, still kind of 'on the fence'. I didn't want to give in, but something was tugging at my heart. I later learned it was the holy spirit.

Anyway, I eventually just broke down. Basically, I gave in. I said, "Alright God. I believe in you. I believe you sent you son to die for me. I believe I need him, and I accept it."

In that moment, the spirit of God absolutely blew me away. That 'peace that passeth all understanding' came immeadietly into my life. I felt God. That's when expierience came into it.

After I opened the door for God, he came right in.

But if you don't open it, he can't. He just 'stands at the door of your heart and knocks'

Now, both things trigger my faith.

My beliefs lead me to follow the Word's teachings, and in doing so faithfully and with motives that match God's will for me, I expierience the promises contained in the Word.

All of it...

I learn through extraordinary life experiences. And was saved from death so many times.

But the most spiritual experience was when... God's presence intervene to me during a meeting of about fifty employees and the Boss, on the job site, about eight years ago. Our Boss wasn't very happy with us, due to loss on the assembly line. It was in the moment I felt compassion in my heart for my boss, and raised my hand, and said that I was one of them. I felt God's presence fall on me, in me and around me... it was a happy warm feeling. Also felt God say in my head,"I am happy with you".

Many times I felt the Holy Spirit enter in me.
