Both of my children were sleepwalkers, my son used to try and go outside and we had to get a new lock for our door and remove the key at night. My husband was a sleepwalker too. Both of them grew out of it by the age of 8. My daughter is still a huge "sleeptalker" though at 13.
It sounds like the urge to pee is disturbing your son's sleep enough to come through as sleepwalking - and he's dreaming that he's using the toilet.
Have you tried limiting his water intake 30 minutes before bed? Or maybe try putting a night light in the bathroom so he can find it even in a sleepwalking state. There are battery operated nightlights that you could use. Or what about using something like the Goodnites Underpants, it might be harder to pull down and help him wake up.

My kids aren't anywhere near six yet, but I do remember a few things from when I was younger. My brother and I were both sleepwalkers. I tried to climb things in my sleep, he peed in random places. My dad said that once I tried to climb the curtains in my bedroom and then tried to climb the shelves in the towel closet another time. I have obviously grown out of it. My dad also said my brother was sleepwalking and unlocked and opened the front door. They found him on the front walk peeing. I'm pretty sure he doesn't do things like this...lol. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck

Nikki, This is where our minds separate! I consider children to be a blessing from God and parenting is the most rewarding job ever created if it's done right! If a person knows the Lord experientially and trusts in Him for guidance in rearing their children, then their children will turn out fine because they have brought them up in the admonition of the Lord. When a child is brought up right, they won't soon depart from it. Parents who have difficulty with their children are usually the ones who are selfish, don't make time for their children, never want to listen to them, and leave them alone to their own devices. You get out what you put into something. After reading your post, I think it best you don't have children.

Most children grow out of sleepwalking by adolescence.

my son doesn't pee, but he's six and usually sleep walks 3 nights out of a week, he usually ends up lying somewhere weird like our staircase or one morning i found himin between 2 couches my girlies had set aside ealier the day before....i'm sure he'll grow out of it, my mom said me and my brother did around 7 or so, so no worries, if in his late 6's than he'll be about seven when he starts to grow out of it, if he's in his early 6's he should be still in his 6's

I have a 6 yr old daughter and an 11 yr old son that both sleep walk. My daughter even talks (in complete dialouge) in her sleep. I can ask her anything and she will give me honest answers......I feel sorry for her during her teenage years if she is still doing this!

it will pass but in the mean time buy a be that is made for people that fall out of their beds. It is like a crib but not as tall as bars. and when the phase passes take off the bars and keep them in case it starts again.

Ummm...I am a kid and I sleep walk when I'm sick. My doctor said to ignore me unless I am getting into trouble. He will grow out of it. I don't really sleep walk, I have something called night terrors and mine started at age six and still happen. My doctor said I will grow out of it :) Hope everything works out for you. Is he sick at all?

I am mum of five and yes I have found this with all of kids have sleep walked, the best thing you can do is guide them to the toilet straight away being calm and talking softly and help them with pjs and getting on and off toilet. and then help them back to bed and tuck them in. Best wishes,
