The "perfect" Bible says the bat is a bird (Leviticus 11:13 & 19), hares chew the cud (Leviticus 11:5-6), and some fowl (Leviticus 11:20-21) and insects (Leviticus 11:22-23) have four legs.

The bat is a mammal, meaning they can produce milk for the young. I learned that in 2nd grade. Wow.

The Hebrew word that is translated as "fowl" (KJV) can and does include any flying creature, including birds. bats, and winged insects.

The designation of "mammal" is a category that men decided on many, many years after Leviticus was written. While the Bible does contain some scientific information, it is not a book that is focused on teaching the rules of science. Therefore, the way things are catigorized in the Bible may not agree with the way men later decided to categorize them. (Grouping winged animals together instead of grouping these animals based on if they have fur or feathers, etc.)

So, this is not an issue due to two reasons: 1) Things in the Bible may not be categorized based on man-decided laws, and 2) the word translated an "fowl" is a word that means "winged animal".

You are very smart, but the purpose of the list was to enumerate flying creatures that were unclean - not fit for human consumption by the Jews. The next item in the list is winged insects. The classification of animals is arbitrary and based upon agreed upon characteristics.
Actually the word appearing in verse 13 would be better rendered as "flying creatures".
As for the insects walking "on all fours", this appears to be a Hebrew idiom of speech - like we refer to meteors as "falling stars". I am quite confident the people were able to count the number of legs on an insect. I think perhaps the front legs may have been thought of as more nearly analogous to arms.
Did your science teacher tell you what happens to you when you die? Jesus Christ rose from the dead. You might want to listen to Him regarding such matters.

My question is, don't you have something better to do? Seriously. Be comfortable enough with your own beliefs to not spend time belittling those of others. Of course there are inaccuracies in the Bible. It's a cultural document, not a divine product, a history of the Jewish people up until the New Testament. Many Christians disregard a lot of the "factual" information in the Old Testament. Really, what is your point? If it's to bring down people by trying to make them feel stupid by merely their faith, I think you have much growing up to do.

If says fowl. Adam named all things. If he said they were fowl, then they were foul. Just because we recognise them as mammals doesnt mean that they were recognised as mammals at the time. And my bible never uses the word insect. Get an new one, not a revised one.

So what? Just because people categorized bats as birds in the Old Testament, that doesn't mean anything except that they didn't go to a modern 2nd grade class.

Oh No! I was just settled in to believe that we came from Ground Squirrels; the only mammal that could have possibly survived the great Ice Age; warm and fuzzy down in their burroughs.

Now you come up with another mammal that could have survived the great Ice Age: deep in caves and warmed by decaying guano.

You have confused me and my belief in my ancestors.

You naughty girl.

Oh,boy you got us, now we all have to become atheists, for sure. Thank God you came along with this wealth of knowledge to show us the way sister,. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps God when speaking to the Israelites, that He was speaking in terms that they would understand. How they saw the world. That is what God does. He speak so folks can understand Him. They saw bats fly so they would naturally think of them as birds. The hare does chew on grass, I live in the country and see them do it all the time.

The world isn't flat anymore and the sun no longer revolves around it either. It just shows that many things that were once thought to be true have been proven wrong

Bats look like birds to me. Can't you believe your own eyes?

Maybe, since we 'evolved' that some hares chewed curd and some fowl and insects had 4 legs thousands of years ago. Maybe we'll find their fossils one day.
