I smoked while i was pregnant, but i have since quit... i reccomend quitting asap... you don't want to wait too long... your body will already have so much stress on it.. the main side effect was low birth weight.... and im not talking real small... my babies were both almost 7 lbs...
i would mailnly talk to your doctor, know your risks, and do what you feel is best...
good luck!

If you find out later in the pregnancy it is advised to not to quit altogther because the fetus could go into shock. The fetus could be already addicted. If you are within a few weeks start cutting back slowly but consistently.
Side effects can be none to severe depending on hos much, how healthy you and the fetus are. They can range from breathing issues (like asthma) to disabilitied because of the lack of blood flow and oxygen to the fetus.

You should stop smoking ASAP. I waited to long and everytime I tried the stress of it all put me in pre term labor. It got to the point it was more of a risk to stop smoking than it was to have a baby at 22 weeks. PLEASE stop early and dont end up like me where while yes I definetly limited and cut back but I litterally couldnt stop. If you keep smoking your baby may be low birth weight. My daughter came at 38 weeks and weighed 5 lbs 11 oz. While that technically isnt low birth weight I know she would have been much bigger if I hadnt smoked.

she should quit as soon as she finds out. Some side affects are lower birth weight, smaller babies, stunt the growth, etc. My mom smoked with me and I was fine I was born premature by a couple weeks.

I quit smoking the same day that I got a positive pregnancy test. I was not going to be selfish so I quit and I am so glad that I did, and I do not miss it at all.

IMMEDIATELY- Think of your baby, low birth weight, small build, and possibly premature birth. Are these things you are going to be able to accept because you could not stop smoking? Not to mention the fact that you are cutting your life span short as well to parent.

MAJOR effects. She should stop smoking IMMEDIATELY.
Smoking can severely damage the growth process. It's introducing tobaco into the mother's blood stream that feeds DIRECTLY into the fetus.

As soon as possible. Smoking can harm the fetus, which can end up having growth and developmental problems in the later stages of your pregnancy and its infancy.

The Baby could end up premature, and retarded. I have seen it with my own eyes on my cousin. He is having a hard time in school, and some times thier lungs are damaged. Many horrible side effects. It isn't right.
