I just installed stereo amplifier wires, but no amp yet. So there is nothing drawing from the battery yet, other than the starter. I had to change my pos. bat. terminal to one that excepted the amp wire. But again there is no amp hooked up yet. Everything looks legit and was installed buy an experienced friend. It will only start with a jump and with me giving it a few seconds of gas. Once started it runs great. No prior trouble. Please help!

There is a chance that this is either a coincidence or that you blew something out when you changed the terminal.

A few questions...

Are you sure you didn't forget to reconnect anything to the positive terminal when you replaced it?

Have you checked all fuses and fusible links?

Have you checked your dash lights or gauge after you start it up. Does it show the alternator is charging?

Have you tried driving it to an Autozone or similar auto parts store that might give you a free battery and charging system check.

Any chance you have an ammeter? If so, use it to see if you are drawing current from your battery when everything is turned off (to see if you have a short).

Hope this is of help

Make sure your battery cable is connected tightly. I replaced the starter on mine and the next few days it wouldn't run without a jump, and after it got going I had electrical trouble...lights going out...radio cutting off. Was about to turn in that starter for another and found that I had forgotten to tighten my positive cable (yeah...I still feel like a dumb *** for that one). Anyway...turns out that every time I went to jump it, I was actually just squeezing the terminal enough to get a decent connection. Tightened it up and it's been running fine ever since.
