Eating a well-balanced diet and good exercise can help prevent migraines. Avoid foods you are allergic to. Don't skip meals. Get plenty of sleep each night.

Topamax is an anti-seizure medication that has now been approved by the FDA for treating migraines. For me, the low dosage was not effective. I am on a higher dose, and have achieved great results.

Sure it's migraine? A histamine headache is as severe but caused from allergy. Ask a doctor to do a RAST test; might learn how to stop having them. I did.

Decrease stress and drink less caffeine. There are drugs that you can get from your doctor to take as a preventative. My dr gave me Topamax. Immitrex made my migranes worse. Drink plenty of fluids also. Hope this helps.

my daughter takes Inderal-LA daily to prevent migraines. She is only 11 years old but has suffered for several years. It seems to help but she also has to concentrate on keeping her stress levels down and her muscles relaxed.

topomax caused my migranes to get worse, so my neurologist suggested an over the counter enzyme called CoQ10... i am 300 lbs and he said to take 200 mg one time daily... adjust your dosage accordingly
