How do I make him okay with me again! Please please help!! Anything!!?

Sorry for the repost but I'm so stressed over this:
So I'm so new to dating, but here goes:
A guy asked me out who I could not date (age-too old) but I said yes, sheepishly. Next time I see him, instead of planning when or saying no I just was aloof and talked about other hot guys (celebs) and said a hi. He got so mad at me! I said hi again once but now he is ignoring me hardcore and I feel terrible and still want to be at least neutral terms with him. I know I am very bad...I was just so shy that I could not just tell him :( But I'm willing to do anything just so we could be friends or at least be normal! Help? Thanks a lot :
