I bet you'll get 20 people saying. I feel it's true in my heart, or I have faith and that's all I need. Faith is a great thing because it will always trump logic & Reason. Thats not to say I dont believe in god.( or gods) for that mater. But I believe that the bible is a false book. In fact there is proof that during the time of emporer constintines rule. there was a councel of preasts that got together and decided wich holy scriptures went into the bible and wich where left out. They got to decide what scriptures where true and wich where false. so there you go historical evidence that the holy scriptures have been tampered withby man and the bible was the result. yeah, that harmony there talking about thats because it was edited. duh!.

First it is important to note that the Bible is "inspired by" God. Every word in the Bible was not spoken by God, he merely used man to communicate it. Secondly, if you are looking for tangible evidence, nowhere will you find anything that definitively ties God to the words in the Bible. You will however, find proof of the consistency of its words throughout the ages. The dead sea scrolls are the oldest existing biblical documents dating back to the second century BC. Comparison to today's translations of the Bible have proved current versions to be consistently accurate. This alone is a wonder in and of itself. No literary text (to my knowledge) has been able to stand the test of time and the corrupt minds of men for a couple generations, much less two millenia. This supports one of the concluding texts of the bible (See Revelations 22:18-19) which promises suffering to all that dare alter this sacred work. As to why God doesn't reveal HIMself (note that God has always been a "He"), the Bible is clear on why we currently can't and when we will. Our sinful nature is incompatible with God's perfection, and no human has ever bestowed their eyes on Him. As to whether or not God really exists, its up to you. If you don't want to notice it you never will. Many can share experiences with you that will make God's existence undeniable in their lives. All in all, a greater all-emcompassing supreme being must exist in this world, call Him what you may. Think about the countless lives that start and end in a world where the good (God) and bad (Satan) are always conflicting. If there wasn't hope for a better tomorrow (salvation), why bother living in the first place? I'd be the first to put an end to my life in this world of misery. In the meanwhile, I suggest we make the best of it because there IS hope.

Simple - and not so simple. It is absolute truth, which is known through divine revelation. Once you know it (because there is more to knowing than just believing) one cannot and would not deny the truth of it.
I often use the analogy that if a person is born blind, you would never be able to 'explain' the color blue....it cannot be comprehended without the experiential knowledge. Same is true about the Word of God.
It would be easier to try to disprove it, which cannot be done. (Most who really try to disprove it with a sincere heart to know the truth are converted - and the truth shall set you free)
Not what you are looking for, I am sure, but what I have to offer. If you want to know the truth, open your heart to receive it. Otherwise you have already made your mind up, and you will never believe beyond your limited head understanding.
The Bible says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Pray for an understanding of the truth, then read it.
Good luck - hope you get your answers

Start wth looking at the harmony of the entire Bible. Keep in mind that whether you want to believe it or not, it was authored by God who used abut 40 men. The 66 little books that make up the bible were written sometimes hundreds of years apart and yet they all harmonize with one another and carry throughout the main theme of the Bible ... The Kingdom of God in the hands of his son Jesus Christ and what it would do for mankind. It's start is mentioned in the first Biblical prophecy at Genesis 3:15 and culminates with the promises at Revelation 21:3,4 of what it will accomplish in the future.
Where it touches on scientific issues it is accurate for no apparent human reason. Example? The prophet Isaiah referring to "the one who is dwelling above the CIRCLE of the earth" at a time when all of his contemporaries believed the earth was flat. How would he know this at a time before space exploration? Heck! At a time before Columbus proved it?
Archaeological proof that Bible characters existed when naysayers... well .. naysayed. The most recent example? Pontius Pilate. I love the History Channel.

> Can any person give me one solid piece of definitive proof why the bible should be treated as the word of god?
No. Faith is required.
> why is it she doesn't appear to us and make her wishes known exactly?
We don't know why. Even in the Bible, there were long periods where God was apparently ... well, not apparent. During these periods, he supposedly spoke to the high priests who would sprinkle blood on a leather seat while lesser priests were waving beef parts around.
Maybe someone should try to re-create the tabernacle, along with replicas of the Ark of the Covenant, have descendants of Levi re-enact the sacrificing, waving, and sprinkling described in the Bible.
> Is there any solid proof that there is in fact even a god?
No. The evidence appears questionable, as you've pointed out. Faith is required.
By the way, I'm a Christian -- a Pascalian Protestant. Go to wikipedia and read the article on "Pascal's Wager." It might give you enough incentive to accept Christianity. Then again, maybe not, since yearly gifts under the Christmas tree probably didn't persuade you of the existence of Santa Claus.

I will tell you this: I wondered about God myself as a child. And like many, I listened to what others "told me" about God, and I didn't get anything out of it. Eventually though, I had to really see for myself. So what I did, I took the KJV Bible and began to read it for myself. I learned a lot. Such things like; you are partly right to use the term "her" when referring to God. But you are only referring to one part of the Original Holy Spirit; which on the Sixth day broke down into a Male and Female. Many think that was Adam and Eve; but if you read for yourself, you would see that that was not true. For on the sixth day, land animals were created first, then later that day, the male and female. Here on earth, Adam was made first, then land animals, then after that, Eve.
That first male and female had children, and chapter six of Genesis tells us that the Sons of God (that male and female, whose image we are made in), took wives from the daughters of men.
I say all that to say this. If you really want the answer to your question. No one can give it to you. You have to see for yourself. Go to your bible; a KJV and start at the beginning. Read at half the pace you normally talk, and look up in a dictionary all the words you can't readily say the meaning of (even if it is a word you use every day). Do that, and see if you can't get this tangible proof you ask for.
I did it. And it changed my life. I do not succumb to the pagan ways of man. Nor do I succumb to the lies taught in the churches, which even God as well as our Saviour has issue with.
I would be willing to discuss with you what you learn. But if you truly want that answer... you would have to seek it yourself.
And JAH (psalm 68:4) will answer and show you the way.
It's best for you to do that now, than to learn it over a thousand years.

No person can give you proof that you can trust the bible as God's word. The things of God are spiritually discerned. And only one can give you that kind of discernment: God Himself. He will, if you would seek Him.

We are under no obligation to provide proof of God's Word to you. You are spiritually blind and wouldn't know the truth if it came and stood in front of your eyes. The truths of the Bible are hidden to the unbeliever. I have been studying the Bible for awhile and find it to be totally fascinating and increasing my faith in God. Get to know God, study the Bible then come back and tell us.
