"Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" (l Corinthians 11:14).
How many freaked out long-haired, bible thumping Jesus freaks do you know? Perhaps this is just my experience, but I can name 12 such individuals off the top of my head. Surely, you can recall at least ONE LONG-HAIRED CHRISTIAN.
The stereotypical version of CHRIST HIMSELF! Think of the numerous statues and pictures Christians adore depicting the lord appearing as that which he detests. One can not stop and wonder at the absurdity of this...

they were talking about vanity and disrespecting ones self. it was taking what the Greeks considered "natural" and showing a sense of propriety. showing that we need to be well kept and care for ourselves. long hair then was that which was never cut. shoulder length hair was the "norm" back then.
nice try though.....

Josephus, a Jewish historian, mentioned Jesus in his writings toward the end of the first century C.E., roughly 60 years after Jesus' death.
As a non-Christian, Josephus would have no reason to accept the historical reality of Jesus unless there was some sound basis for it.
In one of his works, Josephus discusses disturbances that were caused by the Jews during the time Pontius Pilate was governor of the region of Judea (26-36 C.E,) The disturbance centered around a man named Jesuss and his followers, Josephus identifies Jesus as "a wise man....a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of men who received the truth with pleasure," and he notes that Jesus was later condemned by Pilate to crucifixion. While this mention of Jesu does not suggest that Josephus himself accepted Jesus or the claim made about Jesus by his followers, it does seem clear that Josephus recognized Jesus to be a historical person who had a profound impact on the people he encountered.
Read also about Tacitus, a Roman historian.....Pliny the Younger another Roman source and Suetonius a Roman historian and lawyer.
All these writers prove the historical existence of Jesus......rather than biblical sources.

Men with long hair is something some Christians don't like at all. So I thought I'd have to cover this issue to get rid of all misconceptions concerning this by some so controversial issue.
Some even say that it's unbiblical to have long hair and refer to the verse 1 Corinthians 11:14.
BUT to understand this scripture we need to understand what the situation was like in Corinth. At this time, Corinth was known for it's immorality and perversity and the men that were sexual perverted had long hair. Paul, the one who wrote the Letter to the Corinthians, didn't want the men in the church to be taken for perverted and that's why he wrote these words.
So this is NOT God's commandment to all people throughout all times, but Paul's SPECIAL ADVICE for the people in Corinth at that time!
Samson was a Nazirite from the moment he was born. He let his hair grow and didn't cut it, and through God that was a source of his strength. But when he played with his annointing and cut his hair, he immediately lost his strength.
So here we see that God have nothing against long hair. The Bible also saids clearly that God doesn't look on our outer look but He looks at our hearts! <1 Samuel 16:7> So God doesn't care if you have long or short hair, what's important isn't your hair, length but that you are living for Him.
Hope I cleared this up!

Long was considered past your shoulders in those days.
Jewish men had hair like that because a razor or knife was not allowed to touch their scalp or face, so they grew it to their neck.
