depends on what state you are in. some states, like here in NC, you have to get tags and use the accompanying registration card to get it inspection. other states make you get in inspected first. just call your local DMV office or a local inspection station and ask what is needed and involved in getting all that taken care of

not sure but in some states car can be inspected for saftey and emission before being registered . inspection results will be good when you go into dmv
