Honey, I have 26 piercings...most of which are larger gauge and all metal jewelry.
I've NEVER set off any detector. You'll be fine.

I don't think so.
Your earrings don't set off metal detectors at the airport so you shouldn't have a problem with downstairs.
If your that worried.... go and ask the person who did the job or where you got the stud from.
The metal the ring is made of, usually surgical stainless steel, niobium, or titanium to hold the bead tightly in place. The bead or ball itself may additionally be made from coloured glass or ceramic, or some (semi-) precious stone.
My friend has a downstairs piercing (well two actually) and he's not had any problems when he flew over to US. More and more of us are getting downstair piercings nowdays so don't worry.
I honestly think you will be fine!!! :-)

Interesting living in a country where personal freedoms are so highly regarded but at the same time to protect this fundimental right children are sent to armed schools to ideally save them from being shot by their own. One might wonder what's preventing anyone from taking out a school bus or just shooting though the windows of the school or sniping the school grounds at recess. Should all schools have armed cops, teachers with concealed weapons, metal detectors, barbed wire fences - sure. If that's what you want for yourselves why not. It's a free country. I'm not overly sure what it would solve though, sadder still is the fact children have to worry about it and pay the price.

No.I have several piercings Airport security and court house detectors will not detect jewelry, but on the other hand. Those people who wear that cheap fake gaudy looking jewelery like the ones that look like spinning rim (you know what I'm talking about)
Trust me on this one.I have a friend who is over Airport Security and friends that work in court houses and have been through both.

It's important to say that tinnitus is a symptom and not a disease. Some people will have tinnitus because their Cochlea is damaged. And in a few, it could be caused due to hearing loss. But of course, the most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noises. The noise can be a sudden burst, or it could be a constant banging that hits the ear drum and travels inside.
A good guide you can read about tinnitus and some good natural remedies can be found here: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

It shouldn't! I have piercings and they don't go off when I walk through the metal detector at an airport or in the courthouse.

No. I had to go through a security metal detector at a courthouse and believe me, i was holding my breathe. Nothing happened though. Thank god. And the wand didn't go off either. I was really nervous about that one.

I walked through with a metal belt buckle and it didn't set it off.
I think once I even had a lighter in my pocket and that didn't set it off. I think you would be best if it does happen. To explain calmly where you have the piercing. I'm sure your not the first.

it needs to be of a certain mass % percentage weight ratio to set off a metal detector.
it needs to be over 30% iron or 21% titanium
& there are certain other amounts of materials that set it off like 50% magnisium
they are finely tuned machines.
just you try walking through with 50P of 2ps it goes mental
yet 48p of 2ps wont even make it flicker.
