...maybe I could rephrase the question?

Here in the UK there'll soon be more old than young people and I suspect that the situation is similar in most other developed countries - MORE METHANE !

AIDS and other serious diseases it would seem are having a pretty effective stab at curtailing population explosions in undeveloped ones but in china the indigenous population is still only allowed one child per family (God help you if your gender is female) aren't they ? However, now, some chinese cities are in an almost permanent state of SMOG and the nation is set to be the next Superpower - which will probably mean alot more babies - MORE METHANE STILL?

Now I hear that the huge Russian Arctic Tundra plains are in danger of melting - GINORMOUS AMOUNTS OF METHANE !!!

My question is this - shouldn't we stop flogging a dead horse so to speak - and help Mr.Branson with his commerical spaceship development and be doing heaps of research on terra-forming and working out how best to colonise the those under planets in the Solar System?

This isn't a CFC situation - like with the Ozone hole which I believe is almost gone now - this is something we can't put right isn't it - because like all of nature animal and vegetation - we have no choice - we have to BURP AND BREAK WIND ???????

Smart question! Really! You kind of..mixed the natures problems with the humans problems.Nice! But I guess you already know the answer at this: The natures healthiness directly influences the humans health! ;)

That's a question and a half. i don't know which bit to talk about. The burping and farting sure got my attention as my beloved has regular belts of those at all times of the day and night. The chances of stopping either are as remote as stopping cows sooper-dooper-poopering, but you can live in hope I suppose. I, on the other hand have never burped or farted in my entire life (my nose has just wellied it's way across the room knocking the telly clean off its stand.) so my contribution to the Methane level is negligible (excuse my slow typing as my fingers are crossed).

there are a range of better detriments to the ambience that do not help the international warming situation than flatulence and smoking. I say in case you save on excreting severe quantities of methane and filling your body with smoke, international warming is the least of your subject matters.

With "tongue in cheek", I'll just say you gotta stop the flatulence of larger mammals than YOU in order to have any effect on global warming.

You cessation of flatulence isn't even going to be "the tip of the melting iceberg".

we absolutely have to burp and break wind, otherwise our guts would explode. i don't know if this pollutes, but i heard there is a gas station where they practically 'collect' farts. i found this out here. you can search for the question. hope that helps.
